To help ensure that we provide a safe experience for everyone who uses Uber Eats and to comply with local laws, there are some items that cannot be sold on Uber Eats, or may only be sold in certain circumstances.
This page provides examples of the types of items that may be considered inappropriate for sale on Uber Eats, and is not exhaustive. If you are unsure whether an item is permitted to be sold on the platform, please contact your Account Manager or Uber Eats Support.
Examples of items that are inappropriate for sale on Uber Eats include, but are not limited to:
- Illegal or illicit items : Products that are illegal to sell, possess, or distribute under Australian or New Zealand law Examples include: food products that are banned or restricted by local laws, illegal drugs and illicit substances, stolen goods, and counterfeit products.
- Dangerous or hazardous items: Items that may pose a risk to health or safety. Examples include: firearms, ammunition, sharp medical devices (regardless of intended use). Items containing flammable, toxic, corrosive, oxidising or harmful substances, knives that could be used as weapons, explosives (e.g., fireworks, flares), hazardous chemicals and poisons (e.g., rat bait, cockroach poison), biohazardous substances, spray paints and graffiti aerosols, vehicle/industrial batteries, and heavy-duty power tools.
- Regulated items: Products subject to strict legal controls. Examples include: tobacco and vaping products, pharmacist-only or prescription medicines, cannabis and CBD products, and drug/alcohol/smoking paraphernalia (such as cream chargers/nangs, rolling papers, grinders, bongs, and beer hats).
- Other unauthorised item / inappropriate items: Items that you do not have permission to sell or send. Examples include: live animals or animal parts, restricted plants or seeds, pornographic or sexually exploitative material, and expired or unsafe food products.
- Valuables and monetary instruments Products that carry high value or financial risk. Examples include: cash, lottery tickets, gift cards, high-value jewellery, precious metals, and traveller’s cheques.
- Digital goods and services: Non-physical or intangible products. Examples include: software keys, online subscriptions, digital credits, and services.
Restricted Items – Sold by Exception
Some items can only be listed for sale on Uber Eats if you’ve received prior written approval from Uber. These products are either regulated, age-restricted, or require special handling.
Examples include:
- Alcohol (≥0.5% ABV): beer, wine, spirits (requires licensing and approval).
- Certain pharmaceutical products: over-the-counter medicines and therapeutic supplements.
- Pharmacy-only medicines: must be sold under pharmacist supervision.
- Other age-restricted items: e.g., mature-rated video games, sex toys, novelty adult products.
If you’re interested in offering any of the items for sale in this section, you’ll need to submit a request to Uber. We’ll guide you through the requirements and let you know if you’re eligible to sell them. Do not list these items unless your account has been approved to do so.
