Alcohol delivery requests are available to delivery people in New Zealand. Alcohol delivery is optional. If you choose to participate in alcohol deliveries, it is important to educate yourself on your legal obligations.

FAQ:

These are some frequently asked questions relating to the delivery of alcohol.

  • Local laws require that alcohol isn’t delivered to people under the age of 18 or people who are intoxicated.

This means that if the order you're picking up contains alcohol, the app will prompt you to complete a set of checks to assist you in complying with your legal obligations. This process is the result of legal and regulatory requirements, not independent instructions or guidance by Uber.

  • Under our Community Guidelines, delivery people are required to follow all applicable laws and regulations. This includes road safety laws and laws relating to the delivery of alcohol. Failing to comply with the law may be a breach of Uber’s Community Guidelines, and may result in you losing access to the app. It may also lead to fines for breaching your legal obligations.

In some locations, the law also requires that records of delivery refusals be kept. Please ensure that you follow the in-app prompts and always return the order to the store if the customer is underage or appears intoxicated, or if their identity doesn’t match the name shown in the app.

  • In order to receive alcohol delivery requests in the Driver App, you must complete the education modules.
