One thing that our team is always excited about is the ability to work with other teams that operate at global scale, but still understand that every city is special in its own way. With the Uber API, we aim to bring the magic of Uber to a variety of industries and together, make cities more vibrant and accessible.

Today we officially announce our partnership with Zomato to provide a transportation solution to over 35 million monthly Zomato visitors. Zomato is an online and mobile restaurant search and discovery service that provides indepth information for over 300,000 restaurants across 20 countries. The company even recently acquired Urbanspoon, a company based in the US, in an effort to expand to even more markets. Together with Zomato, Uber users can enjoy the bars, restaurants, and nightlife in each city, while ensuring access to a safe and reliable ride home.

“We’re excited to partner with Uber to help Zomato users conveniently find a ride to their destination in cities throughout the world. We are thrilled about the potential of this partnership, most of all because of the giant strides it takes towards making the dining experience even smoother for millions of people — from start to finish.”

—Pankaj Chaddah, Co-Founder and COO of Zomato

Worried about looking for parking at dinner?

Zomato’s partnership with Uber makes getting to restaurants — in style — incredibly easy. Once a user decides where to dine or have drinks, users will be able to tap the Uber button on Zomato’s restaurant page to find the nearest Uber. The feature shows an estimate of how much it’ll cost to get to the destination and the time it will take for your Uber to arrive, enabling you to get moving in a matter of minutes.

What we’re most excited about is the impact that the integration will have on the dozens of cities across the world where both Zomato and Uber are present. The combination of Uber’s on-demand service and low-cost fares with Zomato’s top-notch comprehensive directory opens up access to amazing dining and nightlife in neighborhoods that otherwise may have been hard to enjoy due to poor public transportation or lack of easy parking. We look forward to working with Zomato to find new ways to make the world’s cities more enjoyable and accessible. The feature is already live today, but will be rolling out to even more cities in the upcoming weeks.
