Valentine’s Day Winners! Tales From The Heart

Happy Valentine’s Day!!! We held a contest to hook up five lucky riders with some amazing valentine presents. Riders simply had to tell us why their partner deserved the V-day hookup. We got tons of incredible responses and have copied the 5 winning submissions below.

I met B*** 3 years after I just left a terrible relationship that left me emotionless. he was patient, loving, generous and kind. I kept pushing him away but he was very persistent. He kept telling me that I didn’t need to love him back because his love was enough for both of us. B*** is more than amazing…Three years later, he is still amazing and I fall in love with him everyday. Yes! His generous love did not only heal my broken heart, it taught me how to love again and to believe that True Love really exist. I hope I can treat him to a Private dinner for two at Miele’s Kitchen because He deserves it.

You are the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me. Each moment that you and I spend together is so magical that I catch myself smiling for no reason at all. I thought that I would never find a love that is as strong as ours, but now that we’ve found each other I know that you are the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, the person I want to marry, the person I want to have babies with, and the person I want to grow old with. And by 19th March we are getting married. I can’t wait for that day to come.

My girlfriend, E****, is the most thoughtful and caring person i know. I had an accident two months ago, and had to undergo surgery, and all the while i was in the hospital, E*** did all she could to never leave my bedside. She would come to visit me EVERYDAY at the hospital. Everyday! And also take the pains to get to work, dry her eyes, and smile, like nothing had happened (My Superwoman). And now that i’m back home, not minding the distance (From Ilaje, Ajah to Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja) she comes to visit me every Sunday after church. While undertaking these arduous journeys, whenever she could, she would Uber to me, or i would support her financially, as she “Ubered” back.

I really wish i could show her how much i appreciate her, and tell her a big Thank You for showing me what LOVE truly means, through her Sacrifice with a capital S.

So I’m not here to tell you a sob story in order to play on your emotion; I’m just telling you the honest truth and taking a one in a million chance so that you can help me help the most amazing woman in the world. Growing up, my father was never absent, but he wasn’t quite present either. Over the years he grew to be full on absent. He put us through a lot. Back in the good old 2010’s we were what you could consider a “high class society family”. However we fell. We fell long and hard from that life because of him. Chasing women, having other kids, reckless spending to the point of the family being broke. Now my mother, young, strong and smart took it upon herself to raise 5 kids on her own. It would have been too easy for her to drop us and walk away; she had every reason to, but she stuck with us. I never realised it because she took such good care of us, but looking back we faced quite a few trials and tribulations. Rather than go into details and stories of what happened in the past; I’d rather focus on the present. To put it quite simply my mum is just the best. Although we argue and fight pretty much everyday, I love her to bits and would like you to help me show her.

My mother is strong, kind, loyal and caring. She’s my rock, never mind the fact that she’s weathered many storms and crumbles in certain places, she’s always steadfast. She’s got the most compassionate heart I’ve ever seen. If you’re familiar with the phrase “taking Panadol for someone else’s headache”; that’s basically the motto she lives by. For example (one that occurs a bit to oven) she can’t see someone’s car stuck on a sandy road somewhere and just leave it, never mind the damage it’ll do to her own car. My mom is just superwoman. Literally. She’s taken on the roles of father, mother, friend, cook, nanny, maid, driver, gateman. All to take care of her kids. I don’t know what I did to deserve such an amazing woman in my life, but she is here and I’m so thankful and grateful every single day. I guess you wouldn’t find a whole bunch of 19 year old girls entering this competition, especially not for their mums. And to be honest I wasn’t going to send an entry either but she’s too much of an amazing person for me not to at least try.

Basically, to sum up how much she means to me, I’ll leave you with the words of Susan Hickman Sater; “I see my life through her eyes. I see the strength she always offers me, the comfort she continuously shows me, the support she provides me, the magnitude of the love she unselfishly shares… I see the many sacrifices she has made and continues to make for me, the inspiration she is to me when I need direction, the devotion she shows me as a parent, and the encouragement she gives me when I need a friend. When I look at her, and see my life though her eyes, I feel very loved, fortunate and blessed. She is the best and more than a mother could be”.

My wife deserves the Uber hookup because she is the piece that completes me. An amazing mother to our beautiful daughter(who takes a lot after her), a business partner in my crazy idea-based approach to business, best friend to the very reserved me and owner of my precious heart. I really was lost before she stepped into my world, now it builds on perfectly.
