“Your driver is completing a trip nearby.”
You might have seen this message while requesting for your next ride. We’re excited to have this feature which connects you to get the nearest driver in your vicinity within the shortest time.
This increases the efficiency of the whole system – meaning lower estimated time of arrival (ETA) for you and other riders. You won’t have to wait as long as be picked up!
The ETA we give you takes into account the time it will take the driver both to complete the trip and get to you – so it shouldn’t take any longer just because they are on a trip.
For example, if a driver is only a 1 minute from a destination and you are 3 minutes away from that destination, we’ll connect you to that driver (now 4-5 minutes away from you) instead of the next vehicle which may be 8 minutes away.
How does this benefit me?
The feature is expected to significantly lower waiting time because you get the nearest driver around your area!
What if I want to make multiple stops?
Of course – you can continue to your Uber app as you normally do.
#PROTip: Just make sure you have your final destination keyed into the app, to avoid the partner from receiving any other forward dispatched trips along the way.
Will I be sharing my ride with another rider?
No, you’ll never be in the vehicle with another rider at the same time, and everything else about your trip should be the same.
We always appreciate hearing your feedback and about your experiences. It helps us continue to improve the system both for you and for our partner-drivers. If you’d like to get in touch, drop us an email at support@uber.com
