Uber insures Earners in Sri Lanka at no extra cost for a secure travel

We understand your safety concerns while on the road, and we want you to know that you are taken care of during an Uber trip. Every trip is insured by a leading insurer M/s Allianz Insurance Lanka Ltd., one of the leading private sector general insurance companies in Sri Lanka. The Insurance program provides a safety net to our growing community of earners if any unfortunate accident occurs while they are on the road and using the UberEats application.
This unique insurance program insures UberEats earners when they are online and on the road providing delivery services through the UberEats App. Earners coverage starts from the time an Earner log-in into the Uber App for providing the Delivery Service until log-off from the Uber App. This unique insurance cover will be offered at no cost to the earner, giving them peace of mind, while enjoying the flexibility of independent earning opportunity as UberEats earner.
How does it work for you in case of injury?
- Medical treatment: If an accident happens while you are on-app, this cover reimburses you for medical treatment costs that you may incur within 26 weeks up to a capped sum.
- Death benefit: In an unfortunate event of death within 90 days as a result of an accident while on an Uber trip, your dependents or heirs will benefit from a lump sum payment.
What are the limits of the cover*?
- Accidental Death: LKR 500,000
- Accidental Medical Expenses: Up to LKR 200,000

Does Uber maintained Personal Accident policy to replace the earner’s own vehicle motor insurance?
No, earners are required to purchase and maintain compulsory motor vehicle insurance, when they are using their registered vehicle on an Uber trip.
How to claim if Earner or Riders are injured? Earners or Riders can go to the Past Trips section in-app and provide feedback on the ride. To navigate in the Uber app, go to the menu and select Account> Trips> Select the Trip you have an Issue> Select ‘Report Safety Issue’> Select ‘I was involved in an accident’ and fill up all the accident-related information. Uber’s incident response team will reach out to you and align the insurance partner for them to take you through the claim process.
Uber’s incident response team will review the information you submitted, investigate the accident and revert back to you to confirm the next steps.

- Your phone number registered with Uber
- Your email address registered with Uber
- Date, time, and location (street name and nearest cross roads) of the Accident

(i) Uber is the master policyholder of a group insurance policy covering 2, 3, 4-wheelers vehicle trips issued by Allianz Lanka.
(ii) Allianz Lanka is responsible for payment of claims to the Riders and/or Earners arising under their respective policies. Uber is not responsible to the Earners and/or Riders for making payment of claims arising out of the policies
