International Women’s Day is more than just a day spent honouring the phenomenal women around the globe who have achieved great things. For us, it’s a movement celebrating the fact that women now have the ability to move around independently! Driving a car isn’t just a way to get to work – it can be the work. For women around the world, Uber offers something unique: work on demand, whenever you want it. Drivers can make money on their own terms and set their own schedules.
We’re proud to introduce just some of the female faces of Uber in Kenya:

“I’m a mother of 2 and a wife. I’m also a professional business analyst when not driving with Uber, and work for a consultancy firm specializing in IT projects. My mum is my inspiration, because she took care of myself and my 5 siblings - she ensured that we all completed school without any challenges. She always tells me to enjoy life and to live for every moment - I’ve learned so much from her.” - Edith

“I’m a single mum of 2 and never ever thought I’d be a female driver-partner. My first day was hard, but I’m glad I took the risk! My advice to other women is to ‘do what scares you’. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling - Uber helps me to explore and discover new parts of Nairobi. Running my own business enables me to plan my time and save some time off for myself and my kids.” - Ruth

“I’m a mum of a girl who already dreams of starting her own business, after watching me run my own business. I work harder every day for a better future for myself and my family. I’m inspired by the many resilient women I have seen start their own business, go through challenges and succeed, and I’m hoping to be an inspiration to many women out there.” - Irene

“In my spare time, I enjoy swimming and keeping fit. I’m also a chicken farmer and run this as a business. My advice to other ladies is ‘always be yourself and don’t be scared to start and go for your dreams’. Nobel Laureate inspires me - she was selfless and fought for the good of her country and the Kenyan environment.” - Jane
