The end of the year in every country is a time for festivals and celebrations, and Kenya is no exception. Nairobi is one of the best cities to be in during December, with a series of cool festivals, awesome events and celebrations to share with friends and family.
For the fashionistas
Calling all fashion gurus and designers, the East African Fashion Gala is back for its second edition on 14th of December at the Michael Joseph Centre. The East African Fashion Gala seeks to inspire and showcase African designers and celebrate East African fashion, with this month’s being Red Carpet Couture. The show features a runway show as well as live music, awesome food and a high fashion market, for those compelled to cop some new clothes.
Wasafi Festival
For this New Year’s Eve, head over to the Uhuru Gardens for the first ever Wasafi Festival. Organized by The Great Republik and record label WCB Wasafi, the Festival will feature popular Kenyan artists such as Nadia Mukami and Naiboi, before giving way to local Wasafi artists. Gates open at 4pm and the festival ends at 6am on New Year’s Day, so it’s going to be a real all-night party. But don’t worry, we’ve still got you covered for the ride home at dawn.
Grab an Uber when heading to the various events this December and save on petrol and the frustration of finding parking. It’s safe, reliable and affordable and you can share your ETA and other details with friends and family. You can also share fares with your friends, making it easier to travel in groups and enjoy Jamhuri Day, New Year and any other celebrations you’re going to this December.
