How is uberPOOL different from uberGO?

This works like our other Uber options, with a few differences that makes it a more affordable option:

You need to enter your destination when you request your trip. This helps us match you with someone going along a similar route
Each rider can have only one destination and you can’t change your pickup location or destination after you request
Since we want to be courteous to all riders, your driver will wait only 5 minutes at each pickup location
At up to 40% less than uberGO, it’s our most affordable Uber yet!

How much will it cost?

All uberPOOL trips will be upto 40% lesser than uberGO trips. You will see the pricing upfront before requesting and that’s all you need to pay. Pretty good deal, right?

What if I don’t match with another rider?

If there is no rider near you with a similar route, you’ll get a solo ride, just like taking an uberGO. Irrespective of whether your trip is matched or not, the fare will be the same as the one you saw before requesting an uberPOOL.

Can I bring other people when carpooling as a rider?

Feel free to bring a friend! To make sure there’s enough room for everyone, right now we can allow only 2 riders per pickup. Maximum number of riders in an uberPOOL car is restricted to 4.

How is my co-rider chosen?

Co-riders are matched according to the similarity of the route your Uber is taking.

As always, we’re aiming to take you on the most efficient route based on your request. Once you start your uberPOOL trip, you can’t ask the driver to cancel on the other rider.

What type of car will I get?

All cars available on uberGO will be available on uberPOOL.

How long will it take? Will I go out of my way?

We match riders in a way that does not significantly increase total trip time. If there is no rider near you with a similar route, you’ll get a solo ride, just like taking an uberGO. Irrespective of whether your trip is matched or not, the fare will be the same as the one you saw before requesting.

How long will the driver wait?

Please be prepared to meet your driver as soon as the car arrives. As a courtesy to your co-rider, your uberPOOL driver will wait only 5 minutes.

I was picked up first—why was I dropped off second?

We map the route in the most efficient way possible. At times, you will be picked up first and dropped off second, but your total trip time will be minimised.
