How to View and Update Your Payment Method

At Uber, our goal is to make traveling not just a hassle free, but also a delightful experience for our users – right from requesting a ride, all the way to making the payment. Over the last few months our teams have worked tirelessly to create a seamless cash payment option that is truly Uber. After an extremely successful experiment in Hyderabad in May, we launched the Cash payment option in five more cities week – Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kochi and Pune.

Uber users now have a variety of seamless options to pay for their rides. With just a few taps on your Uber app you can pick and choose the payment option that works the best for you. Follow the steps below to learn how to view and change your payment method in a matter of seconds –

Step 1

Fire up your Uber app, and tap on “SET PICK UP LOCATION” button on your screen.

Step 2

In the slider view that flips open from the bottom of the screen, you will see the payment mechanism that you have currently selected.

For example, in the screen on your right, the current payment method for the user is their Paytm wallet.
In order to change your payment method, simply click on the “CHANGE” button on the extreme right in the same row.

Step 3

On the next page, you will see all the payment options that are available to you in your city.

For example, the user on right has three payment options available to her –

From the list, simply select the payment method that you would like to request your next Uber ride with. Here, the user selects Cash as her preferred payment method.

Step 4

Once you select a payment method, you will be redirected back to the map with your newly selected payment method reflected at the bottom. This will be your preferred mode of payment for all future rides as well.

That’s it! You are all set, just request your ride and be on your way!

Pro Tip

Your payment method updates only after you complete the ride. If you simply select a new payment method and quit the app, it will default back to the earlier method the next time you take a ride. So make sure you change your payment method just before you are about to take a ride.
