It’s time to explore the magnificent capital city of Punjab & Haryana that has rightly bagged itself the moniker ‘The City Beautiful’! We have put together a list of Top Destinations in Chandigarh for those who are not quite sure where to start, just relax and let Uber be your guide to an incredibly fun city.

Sukhna Lake: Start your day at this mesmerizing lake at the foothills of Sivaliks. A definite must visit whatever your reason – a walk on the promenade, capturing those early morning photographs, or spotting exotic birds.

Rock Garden: The Rock Garden of Chandigarh continues to remain an attraction for domestic and international travellers. Also known as Nek Chand’s Rock Garden, it was started by a govt official secretly in his spare time before being discovered in 1975. Today spread over 40 acres and visited by 5000 people daily, it is still completely built of industrial and home waste.

#PROTIP: Don’t forget to check out the manicured lawns on both sides but ditch your keys to avoid parking woes.

Capitol Complex: Located in sector 1 and recognized as a UNESCO Heritage Site, the Capitol Complex was designed by Le Corbusier as the govt block within the city, it comprises of a lake, various monuments and is a place worth checking out – The Palace of Assembly, The Secretariat, High Court as well as as the Open Hand Monument, Geometric Hills and Tower of Shadows – each boasts of a unique architectural design.

Japanese Garden: Japanese Garden is the latest addition to the beauty of Chandigarh. This Japanese style park, developed over an area of 13 acres, showcases the Japanese culture, art and various types of plants. The main attractions of this garden include a pagoda tower, meditation hut, zen garden, statues of Buddha, a small pond with pretend crocodiles, a bridge over the pond and much more.

Sector 17 Market: Our very own sector ‘Sataara’ is the heart of this ‘City Beautiful’. Intended as the city and district center for the planned city, today it houses shopping malls, administrative office as well as banks. Sure to give you an urban shopping experience without the traffic hassles. You can have a day out here and stop by the numerous food junctions to get a taste of the local food.

#PROTIP:  Make sure you witness the aesthetically illuminated fountains in the evenings and you’ll certainly want to visit again!
