Introducing the New Developer Dashboard: Part 1

Since the launch of our API a year ago, the developer dashboard has been the first point of interaction that developers encounter when using our API. In this last year, we’ve received a lot of great feedback about how we can make the dashboard more useful and easier to use. We plan to implement as much of your great ideas as possible!

As a result, we rebuilt the dashboard from the ground up to make it easier for us to quickly make updates and changes over time. Along the way we also included some of the suggestions that were sent our way. While there are many more changes to come, we hope that this first release will make it a little easier to accomplish more in less time.

1. A simplified app registration form

With our new App registration form (1), developers can now register their app by just providing a few basic details like App Name and Description!

2. Parameters in one place

Having trouble looking for all the key information for your app? We’ve listed all the parameters at the top of the page (2) so developers can easily get the key info they need for implementation. Client ID, Client Secret, and Server Tokens are front and center.

3. Structured lists and clearer scopes

For Redirect URLs and Origin URIs, we’ve switched from a comma separated list to a structured list (3) to make it easier to specify more than one value. We’ve also improved the list of Scopes (4) by including the Scope names and developer centric descriptions.

We’ve also added support text down the right column to ensure that each section of the App configuration is as clear as possible.

4. An easier way to switch and add apps

Last but not least, we know that it can be a hassle for developers with multiple Apps to switch between them. As a result, we created a new drop down navigation that allows users to quickly switch between apps.
