The resulting traffic and pollution undermine everyone’s quality of life. What’s more? A large majority of us head in the same direction in our own vehicles. That’s: More cars. More fuel. All of us know carpooling is the solution but the only problem is finding commuters on-the-go, realtime. At Uber, we’re using technology to solve that problem for you. You no longer have to look for people in your office or in your network to find a fellow carpooler. Simply signup to carpool with your personal car, download the Uber partner app and we’ll connect you with Uber riders heading in the same direction. It’s that simple!

Our carpooling solution enables people who like to drive to work–or make trips across town–to share the journey and recoup the cost of their trip.

Drivers sign into the app and tell Uber where they are going.  We then show them requests from our riders who are traveling in the same direction as well as the payment they will receive for the trip.  The driver can then decide whether to accept the request or not.  For riders, it’s Uber as usual. They simply select uberGO, input their destination and then our systems match them with a driver going the same way.
