We’ve noticed that you are experiencing fare changes more often than other Uber riders. We know this can be frustrating and impacts your Uber experience in a negative way. Upfront fares are calculated using the expected time and distance of the trip and local traffic, as well as how many riders and nearby drivers are using Uber at that moment. The fare is completely inclusive of the booking fee and toll charges. It takes away the complicated math of calculating your fare and ensures that you are given the actual fare before you request your ride – this way you decide whats best for you and your budget.
Here’s how you can ensure that you pay exactly what you see:
Why Does The Fare Change?
If you enter an incorrect pick up or drop off location
Upfront fares are calculated dynamically, based on your pickup and drop off locations. Key in the exact pick up location and destination. When this is not feasible, the closest pickup location and destination will help determine the best fare estimate for your trip. If there is a change in either the pick up or the dropoff location, the fare shown to you at the beginning of the trip no longer holds valid.
If you change your destination
If you decide to change your destination mid-way, your final fare will change. The same holds true if you ask your driver to drop you off at a different location, instead of the one you entered.
If you take a longer route
The app suggests the best possible route. This route is taken in consideration while calculating your upfront fare. An upfront price may not be honoured if you make significant changes to your trip route. In these cases, we’ll fallback to time and distance fares. Encourage your driver to follow the suggested route. This helps minimise the distance mismatch and you pay exactly what you see.
