Everyday, we strive towards making your experience safer. Thorough background checks and phone number anonymization are just some of the measures we take. At the backend, we build our technology keeping your safety in mind so that you can take appropriate steps before and during your ride.
Ride safe
Before boarding your ride, ensure that your Uber’s number plate, vehicle type and driver are the same as provided in the app.
Familiarise yourself with the Safety Toolkit after boarding your ride. It is available in-app the moment your trip starts, just tap the shield icon.
Share your trip with your loved ones so that they know where your ride is, no matter what time it is.
In case you feel you need immediate assistance, call the Uber Safety Line to speak to someone from the Safety team.
In case of an emergency, dial 100 to report the matter. Local law enforcement authorities will be sent your details and location instantly.
What’s in the Safety Toolkit?
At the beginning of each trip, a Safety Toolkit will appear in your app. Each feature has been built keeping your #SafetyAtHeart so that you always know what steps to take.

On the bottom right corner of the app screen, tap Safety icon to access your Safety Toolkit.

Share your trip: Tap this and select your loved one’s contact from your phone address book. This will send live tracking details of your Uber to them.

Uber Safety Line: Tap this to speak to someone from the safety team. Call the number that appears on the dialpad.

100 Assistance: In the unlikely event of an emergency, tap this.
Safety behind the scenes

Background checks
All potential Uber driver-partners must complete a review process that includes a review of photo ID and other relevant documentation to determine eligibility prior to being authorized to take trips through the app.

Phone number anonymization
The app makes phone numbers anonymous, so your personal information stays private.

GPS tracking
All Uber rides are tracked by GPS from start to finish so there’s a record of your trip if something happens.

2-way ratings
Your feedback matters. Low-rated driver-partners and users are closely monitored.
“Every day, our technology puts millions of people together in cars in cities around the world. Helping keep people safe is a huge responsibility and one we do not take lightly.”
