In a recent survey by the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Centre for Communication and Public Opinion (CCPOS), 76 per cent of respondents said Hong Kongers need to have an alternative point-to-point traffic choice such as Uber.

Close to 80 per cent of Hong Kongers agree that the Government should provide a legal framework to regulate Uber, and the same percentage of respondents believe the introduction of Uber can enhance the point-to-point transport service in the city.

Another 78 per cent of respondents believe the Government is coming up short in supporting innovation in Hong Kong. Amongst 18 to 39 year olds, over 90 per cent of respondents agree the Government is not putting enough effort to support innovation, while only 10% of respondents aged above 60 agree the Government is doing enough to support the technology industry.

The survey commissioned by Uber Hong Kong interviewed 540 people between June 7th to 9th and is the first effort to collect public views on how to improve the city’s point-to-point transport service.
