Throughout the year, Uber invests in initiatives to create a positive impact among earners on our platform, customers, communities where we’re powering movement every day, and inside our company itself. On March 8, we celebrated International Women’s Day, a holiday dedicated to joining millions around the world to recognize the achievements and contributions of women, both past and present, and bring attention to issues of gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
IWD Art Bar & Happy Hour Event
Japan | We held a special IWD Art Bar and Happy Hour event in Tokyo. Colleagues had time to step away from their desk, wind down and invite a friend to create freestyle alcohol ink art while enjoying glasses of champagne and small bites.
We wanted to bring both Uber employees and their friends together to network and create works of unique art.
“I came here purely for the fun of learning art. It was also an opportunity to see the Uber Office, and I was able to talk with some of the people who work there. The art was very relaxing and it was a great time to exchange information with everyone.”
Family Planning Seminar
Taiwan | Hosted by Uber Taiwan Women’s Employee Resource Group in collaboration with our North Asia Talent Acquisition team, the in-person and virtual event featured an informative and engaging discussion from guest speaker, Doctor Jin from Stork Fertility Centre. Doctor Jin delivered valuable insights into the process of egg freezing, optimal ways to preserve fertility, the risks, and what resources are available to employees at Uber.
Ting Chu, Safety Liaison Officer, Uber Taiwan“Dr Jin’s insight was very helpful for young professionals like us to explore options and benefits which helps balance career and personal growth. It also was impressive to see how Uber as a company cares about female employees’ wellbeing and put it into action.”
Yuki Liang, HR Generalist, Uber Taiwan“The refreshments were a great booster to the day! It was also a really nice and cozy platform to connect with our vendor on the subject matter which might otherwise be too personal or sensitive to discuss in such a large group. It was a very professional and informative session for all the Women@Uber!”
Uber Taiwan Women’s ERG and other clubs regularly host events throughout the year for Uber employees. We also hold events open to the public, make sure to check back on our blog or social media for the latest updates.
Sounds interesting?
We will host similar events in the near future – not only in Japan and Taiwan, but across the APAC region as well.
