Get ready for new child safety seat regulation

Starting from 1 November 2025, the Transport Department requires all child passengers aged below eight to use child safety seats in private cars, unless they are at least 1.35 metres tall. Otherwise, the driver must not drive the car on any road.

How will the new regulation affect driver-partners?

Once the regulation takes effect, we will be launching two new child safety seats ride options on the Uber app:, Aged  1-7 (Option 1) , and Aged 4-7 (Option 2) , enabling riders with children to book rides with safety seats in real-time. Driver-partners also have the opportunity to increase their earnings. But the driver-partners who are unable to provide child safety seats may see fewer ride requests.

How are we going to help our driver-partners in response to new regulations?

We are partnering with two suppliers to offer two types of child safety seat at reduced prices*.

The two recommended child safety seats are:

(1) Combi SafeTrip: Foldable safety seat for 1- to 7-year-olds (black, approximately the size of a small carry-on suitcase when folded) 

(2) BubbleBum: Booster safety seat for 4- to 7-year-olds (black, approximately the size of a cushion)

Each vehicle is required to have two child safety seats to be eligible to receive Uber Car Seat trips.

Uber will also run incentives where driver-partners can unlock additional incentives up to HK$1500 (Option 1) and HK$700 (Option 2) after purchasing the Uber child safety seat option 1 or option 2 below and completing 50 eligible child safety seat trips, providing a way to boost earnings that may be used toward the expenses for child safety seats. More details will be shared after completing the purchase process.

2. Once the transaction is approved, you will receive an email confirmation within 7 business days.

3.The child safety seat(s) will arrive in about 1.5 months** , and you will be notified by phone or WhatsApp message. The safety seats will be sent to your delivery address.

4.By purchasing the child safety seats via the supplier purchase forms or WhatsApp, the suppliers will disclose your provided name, email address and mobile number with Uber for assisting you to onboard the new child safety seat ride options.
