【Uber App Guide for Riders】Cancellation fee, Wait time fee and our Multi-destination feature
27 November 2020 / Hong Kong
What is Cancellation fee? What is Wait time fee? How to request multiple-stops?
Cancellation fee
Cancellation fee compensates driver-partners for the time and effort spent getting to your location. In general, you may be charged a cancellation fee for UberX, Flash, Taxi, Assist, Comfort and UberXL if:
1. You cancel the trip 3 minutes after you have matched with a driver-partner.
2. Your or the driver cancel the trip 5 minutes after arriving at the pickup location.
In general, you may be charged a cancellation fee for Black if:
1. You cancel the trip 6 minutes after requesting a trip
2. The driver-partner cancels the trip 10 minutes after arriving at the pickup location
We recommend checking the pick-up location when requesting a ride. If the location is inputted incorrectly, you can contact your driver-partner using the in-app messaging and calling feature.
If the driver is not moving or taking too long to arrive at the pick-up location and you’ve been charged a cancellation fee, you may visit help.uber.com or use the Uber App to contact us 24/7 under the “Help” option.
Wait time fees
Wait time fees will apply to UberX, Flash, Taxi, Comfort, UberXL and Black trips in Hong Kong.
It will apply automatically after the driver-partner has waited at the pickup location for 3 minutes for UberX, Flash, Comfort and UberXL, and 6 minutes for Black.
The per minute rate for waiting time is HK$2. There will also be an in-app notification when the driver-partner is arriving.
Wait time fees will not apply on cancelled trips. Cancellation fees will be charged as per our usual policy.
Heading to multiple destinations
If you need to request multiple stops, we recommend using the multi-destination feature. Add up to 3 locations in the app before confirming the request. An upfront fare will be estimated based on the locations added.
If you have requested an extra stop or need to change the destination after confirming a trip request, the upfront fare will no longer be applicable. The trip fare will be calculated based on the actual distance travelled, time and other fees(e.g. tolls, surge).
