Gary enjoys driving and had been a bus driver for over four years before driving with Uber. Since then, he has been able to enjoy more free time while earning an income, and has travelled to many little known destinations in Hong Kong by chance.
“I love the flexibility and Uber’s business model — more earnings for more effort made — which allows me to earn more when I have the bandwidth.”
Gary once picked up a mother and her autistic son, who seldom took other public transport options. “I remember the mother was checking with me if I was willing to take her autistic son after I accepted her order.”
“As a father, I understand the effort needed to take good care of a child, not to mention caring for a child with special needs. I truly empathize with the situation.”
He also pointed out that there are a limited number of reliable point-to-point transport options for people-in-need in Hong Kong. “Without Uber, they may not be able to seamlessly move around the City, which is also one of the reasons why I continue to be a Uber driver-partner.”
Regulatory certainty is critical for Uber to be able to fully invest in Hong Kong and continue providing a safe and reliable transport option for people in need. Help us regulate ridesharing, so we can bring investment and earning opportunities to Hong Kong.
