The Ultra Low Emission Zone and associated charges come into effect from Monday 8 April. This means that if you’re driving a non-compliant vehicle, you’ll need to pay a fee if you take trips that start, end or pass through parts of Central London. Below are some suggestions to help you avoid these charges.
Upgrade your vehicle
To avoid these charges, you could rent or buy an electric or hybrid vehicle. It will reduce your costs including fuel and charges and is better for the environment. Explore a selection of deals below.

Renting or buying a hybrid
Available ULEZ compliant vehicles include Toyota Prius and Toyota Auris. Please note: If you upgrade to a hybrid you won’t have to pay the £12.50 ULEZ charge, but you’ll still need to pay up to £11.50 per day when driving in the Congestion Charge Zone.

If you choose to rent or buy an EV, you will automatically stop building 15p per mile towards future EV assistance to be claimed through the Clean Air Plan. Instead, you will have the additional 15p added to your trip fare, subject to your service fee.
If you would like to continue adding to your eligible EV assistance while renting or buying an EV, please contact us via the ‘Help’ section of your app to let us know your choice.
Change your driving patterns
Although you’re free to choose when and where to drive, you can adapt the times and locations of your rides to reduce the costs associated with the Ultra Low Emission Zone.
By choosing to avoid the Central London zone you can reduce the likelihood of trips taking you to the Congestion Charge Zone.Driving in the outer boroughs of London, highlighted in green on the map below, will often include trips that avoid both the Ultra Low Emission Zone and the Congestion Charge Zone.
Driving in the red area has a higher likelihood of receiving a dispatch that ends within the charge zone.
