As a data-driven company, we understand the power of information for communities. Since day one, our mission has been to connect people with reliable rides through the use of data and technology. As our presence has grown throughout the years, so has our ability to use the Uber network in different ways.
To mark International Missing Children’s Day, we are partnering with UK charity, Missing People to raise awareness and help find missing children safely.
@UberUK will be supporting the Big Tweet to help find missing children. We hope this year’s campaign will surpass the success of 2015, where 19 of the featured children were found.
There is a positive role people in the transport industry can play to help find missing children – particularly in the first hours after their disappearance has been reported. Today, we invited our partner-drivers to register to receive free Child Rescue Alerts based on their geographic location.
We hope that the power of Uber’s network – currently in more than 20 UK towns and cities – will help increase the reach of the Child Rescue alerts and bring more children home safely. Child Rescue Alert is a partnership between Missing People, the National Crime Agency and an education technology specialist Group Call.
“The support from Uber on International Missing Children’s Day will help the charity spread the search for missing children to towns across the UK. By supporting our social media activity and engaging drivers with the issue, together, we hope we can help to find even more missing children.”
