London’s first Uber riders have emerged!
As morning clouds gathered over head on another quintessentially London summer’s day, veteran Dragons’ Den judge Richard Farleigh popped out his mobile and summoned an Uber. An investor, serial entrepreneur and two-time Chess Olympiad participant — Richard’s not one to faff about with queues, coins, or long wait times. His demand for the instant chauffeur experience led him to zero in on our secret Ubers cruising the streets of London. With the push of a button, a Jag rolled up and Richard was on his way as Rider Zero.
This being London, good ideas – like a cold pint or an Uber car – don’t idle for long. Only minutes later, the Virgin Galactic team was scrambling to make a meeting in Mayfair. Did they fancy a quarter hour of flapping their arms at the street corner? David Clark, Director of Astronaut Relations, thinks not. He’d barely fired up his Uber app before a BMW 7-Series was curbside with the door open. Perhaps not the Starship Enterprise, but it’ll do for today.
Although there are secret Ubers on the road, we are still in research mode. The Uber experience might not be as flawless as after we launch, so all feedback is welcome. Questions? Visit help.uber.com.
