Embracing the Electric Shift with Uber’s PowerUp Package

Kevin, a driver with Uber with over ten years experience, recently made a significant shift from a decade-old Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV to a Used MG ZS EV.

The Mitsubishi, while reliable, was unable to be registered by Tfl, prompting Kevin to consider alternatives provided by the PowerUp Package.

The MG ZS EV was an attractive choice for Kevin for several reasons. Its economic efficiency was a stand-out feature, particularly appealing given the cost savings on fuel and maintenance associated with electric vehicles (EV).

Additionally, the integration of Apple CarPlay allows Kevin to use the Uber app effortlessly for navigating routes, which is essential for his daily operations.

Transitioning to an EV came with a learning curve. Kevin noted that driving an EV requires a different approach compared to traditional combustion engine vehicles. 

This new driving style can contribute to environmental sustainability and may help enhance the longevity and performance of the vehicle, based on regular maintenance.

Kevin has also observed a noticeable increase in his earnings since making the switch. The lower operating costs of the EV enable him to keep a greater share of his earnings.

Kevin opted for a lease-to-own plan on a used MG ZS Long Range from Splend, a vehicle with only 9000 miles, which signifies minimal wear and a considerable amount of the vehicle’s lifespan still ahead.

Thanks to the PowerUp Package, Kevin enjoys reduced weekly payments, from £190 to £168. Additionally, the three months of charging credits at bp pulse stations have allowed him to save approximately £90 per week.

This is alongside installing an EV charger at home, has made him even further savings. Kevin has set up his charger to only charge on off peak rates meaning a charge up to 80% costs only £2.90, getting him a 300 mile range.
