uberPOOL Arrives in Toronto for Two Weeks

Now that the Games have arrived and our roads are busier than ever, we want to make getting around Toronto more efficient and affordable. That’s why starting today and for the duration of the Games, we’re launching uberPOOL, our carpooling option in Toronto.

uberPOOL lets you share your ride and the cost with another rider who is taking a similar route (hello HOV lanes). It’s the same reliability, safety, and comfort of uberX, for up to half the price!

Our vision at Uber is to help solve the most pressing transportation problems that cities are facing. Congestion is a major pain point in Toronto, especially during the Games. We want to be part of the solution.

Toronto will be the sixth Uber city to experience uberPOOL and we’re confident in the positive impact it will have. In cities such as NYC and San Francisco, we’ve seen millions of uberPOOL trips taking pressure off roads, parking, and the environment.

uberPOOL is the cheapest, easiest, and fastest way to share a safe and reliable ride and we’re thrilled to be able to bring it to Toronto for the Games.

WHAT IS uberPOOL?
It’s the same on-demand Uber experience you know and love, except you share it with other great riders like yourself. Have a conversation if you’re open to it, or listen to your music and get some work done like you normally would. It’s totally up to you!

WHEN IS IT AVAILABLE?
uberPOOL will be available as of Monday, July 13 through to July 26. For the second day only – Tuesday – uberPOOL is FREE during the morning and evening commute (7am-9am and 4pm-6pm). Try it out and meet some neighbours along the way!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
If you’re joined by another rider, you’ll save up to 50% (depending on how long they are in the vehicle for during your trip). If you’re not matched with another uberPOOL rider, you’ll pay normal uberX prices.

CAN I BRING A GROUP WITH ME?
Each requester can only bring one other person along for the uberPOOL ride. If you’re a group of 3 or more people, you can request any option other than uberPOOL.

CAN I BRING LUGGAGE?
Definitely! uberPOOL is a great option for getting to the airport. Just remember, you may get matched with another Uber rider (and they may have a friend) so please be mindful of that!
