Uber is committed to cultivating and nurturing an inclusive work environment where everyone is equally celebrated and valued. Behind every trip and every delivery, we have a community who strive to reimagine the way the world moves for the better, while keeping a healthy balance with their personal lives. In celebration of Women’s History Month, we spoke with 9 sUber women from our teams in Japan, Taiwan and Singapore about their experiences working at Uber. Here’s what they had to say:

Suzy Fang
Account Executive, Uber Direct (Taiwan)
How do you see women represented at Uber since you joined?
“We have many female leaders at every level, and the gender ratio in our Taipei office is very balanced. The benefits for women are also amazing — for example, the egg freezing benefits as offered through Uber’s APAC Family Planning Program. Uber really takes care of their female employees. I’m really happy to see the power of women growing, and our female leadership is doing a great job at leading Uber to the forefront of the industry.”

Natalia Silvestrova
Senior Strategy & Planning Associate
How have you observed women supporting other women at Uber? How do you feel about it?
“Uber has a lot of programs to help women come together and support each other, but what stands out to me the most is the support from male allies and the way that Uber treats employees of all genders with equity and fairness. Parental leave, for example, is available to all and in my time at Uber I have seen just as many men as women make use of it, with no consequence to their career.”

Genny Yang
Head of Sales Operations, APAC Delivery
What motivated you to step up and become a leader at Uber?
“The company vision of ‘moving the world for better’ is in line with my personal belief. Working for Uber is not just a job, but it is also part of my passion and my life.”

Mie Hirano
Lead Account Manager, Virtual Restaurants
What motivated you to step up and become a leader at Uber?
“It is motivating that Uber provides us with opportunities to challenge ourselves, regardless of gender, nationality, or age. Also, with challenges come failures, but the manager and team will follow up with us.”

Vivian Chiu
Enterprise Ads Manager, Uber Taiwan
What advice would you give women considering Uber as an employer of choice?
“Uber is a company that truly embraces diversity and creates an inclusive environment where everyone is able to bring their true selves to work each day. This kind of culture is unique and rare to find elsewhere. Through my experience working with Uber, I have met so many amazing individuals from all around the globe, each with their own story to tell. Uber’s commitment to inclusivity not only makes it a great place to work, but also helps to make a positive impact in the world by promoting acceptance and understanding.”

Yuki Liang
APAC People Partner
How does Uber enable you to balance your career, personal life and passions?
“Meaningful work and incredible people: the positive impact our company and products are making to the community and real people’s life makes me passionate about what I am doing. My talented and humble colleagues keep every day delightful and exciting.
Benefits and flexibility: Uber’s benefits take care of all aspects of my life. Parental leave, Uber credits and childcare reimbursement give me time and financial support to look after my family. The flexibility in work arrangements, such as working hour reduction and remote work from anywhere for 4 weeks, enables me to contribute 100% to work and be there for my family at the same time.”

Yulia Brovkina
General Manager, New Verticals, Uber Japan
Have you taken a break in your career for caregiving, education or other reasons? How has Uber supported you?
“Uber gave me flexibility to balance a successful career and family life in many ways. I am currently expecting my third child and as company policy, we have a flexible fully paid parental leave of 18 weeks available in two blocks, new baby services and tailored counseling programs. Most importantly, I have full support and endorsement of my team, colleagues and our leadership team at Uber.”

Yumi Lin
Safety Investigations Specialist
What are the benefits you observe from Uber having such a strong female leadership team?
“It’s inspiring to see women thrive and shine as leaders at Uber, knowing that women at this company are empowered and careers can go far. Having strong female figures as role models to look up to and to receive support and advice from motivates me to constantly evolve myself, to drive my own growth, and as we say at Uber – to go get it.”

Margarita Peker
Mobility GM, Uber Taiwan
What are the benefits you observe from Uber having such a strong female leadership team?
“Uber would not be Uber without strong female leaders. Our leadership team drives diversity of thought, is representative of the communities and customers which we serve, and provides inspiring mentorship for future leaders. We’d be a very different company, with a much smaller impact, if women weren’t promoted and celebrated.”
