To support the people who can’t stay home during this crisis, we’re committing 10,000 free trips to all healthcare and senior care workers. We are also setting aside some trips for the food banks and the Centre de Prévention des Violences Conjugales et Familiales (CPVCF) in Brussels.

We greatly appreciate the significant efforts made by all these professionals and organizations, who go out there every day, to care for us.

The allocation of free rides has been very much appreciated at CHU Saint-Pierre, as it gives our staff the opportunity to get home more quickly and safely, in a current context where the offer of public transport is limited“.

Steve Vitoux, Mobility Manager, CHU Saint-Pierre

How to claim

Are you a healthcare or senior care professional?
Here is how you apply for UberMedics and get the free trips:

  • Fill out this form with your professional email address (which may be different from the email linked to your Uber / Uber Eats account)
  • If your institution is known to us, you will receive a confirmation email giving you direct access to UberMedics and up to 5 free trips of up to 15 euros per trip (after 25% UberMedics discount). Available while supplies last.
  • Select UberMedics before you book a ride.
Apply

If your institution is not known to us, you will be asked to request access to UberMedics in the Uber app via ☰ (menu) > Help > More > Request access to UberMedics or via this link

  • Your application will be reviewed within 24 hours.
  • As soon as your application is approved, you will receive an email to confirm your account.
  • A new option will appear in the Uber app when you book a ride: ‘UberMedics’ and a promotion will be automatically added: up to 5 free trips of up to 15 euros per trip (after 25% UberMedics discount). Available while supplies last.
  • Select UberMedics before you book a ride.

Good to know: This offer is in addition to the 25% discount for healthcare workers we announced on March 31st. If you already have applied for UberMedics before, the free trips are automatically added to your account. After you have used the free trips, you will still be able to use the 25% discount on rides ordered via the Uber platform.

We have also allocated a number of trips to the Food Banks and the Centre de Prévention des Violences Conjugales et Familiales (CPVCF), who will distribute promo codes for these trips directly.

Femarbel welcomes the work of Uber: Femarbel encourages initiatives that make life easier for senior care staff who are hit hard by the crisis, such as being driven home after a stressful working day.

Vincent Fredericq, Secretary General, Femarbel

Things to know

  • To make sure the rides go as far as possible, health- and senior care workers will be able to claim up to 5 rides.
  • The promotion will end when all 10,000 Uber trips are used, based on ‘first come first served’-principle.
  • Uber will pay the trip fare up to €15 (after 25% UberMedics discount). If you go over, you will be charged the difference. The discount will be applied automatically at the end of your trip. The promotion applies at the end of the trip, so while the fare estimate might be €10-12, this trip will be free after the promotion.
  • See full Terms and Conditions below.

From everyone at Uber, thank you for all that you do.

On behalf of the Belgian Federation and its 9 Food Banks, I would particularly like to thank Uber for this noble initiative of solidarity during this coronavirus crisis. Indeed, no less than 350 people in need, who unfortunately have difficulty travelling, will have the chance to be transported to and from their charity to take possession of a food parcel. This is wonderful! We will therefore not fail to give the codes to our Food Bank Brussels-Brabant who will allocate them via their local associations to those in need in the region“.

Jozef Mottar, Managing Director, Belgian Federation of Food Banks
