Uber Star Tournament: A listening session with the winners

An Uber Listening session was held on January 17, 2019 at a renowned restaurant in Dhaka with the winners of the Uber Star Tournament. The winning driver-partners of the Uber Star Tournament received their prizes from Uber officials during the event.

Role of Driver-Partners in Educating New Riders & Drivers

Experienced Uber driver-partners who have adequate understanding of Uber’s policies should teach those to fellow Uber driver-partners as well as informing relatively new riders about Uber’s rules and various features of the app.

Moniruzzaman, who won the first prize award in the Uber Star Tournament, said, “We (driver-partners) are the face of Uber. So it is our responsibility to teach our fellow driver-partners on how to properly use the app and how to ensure safety in each and every ride. Similarly, we should let our riders know about different features of the app, such as the Safety Toolkit and the insurance policy for both drivers and riders.”

Uber As a Sustainable Source of Income

The driver-partners present at the program have chosen Uber as an earning platform to support their families and pursue their dreams. They feel that Uber is able to provide them the necessary support and opportunity to sustain their livelihood and also build some savings for the future.

One partner said, “I earned Tk. 1 lac 40 thousand from trip fares on my first month at Uber.” He added, “I am now able to pay off my debts alongside providing a secure income for my family.”

Third place winner for UberMOTO, Md Sohel said, “We should understand that the trip incentives should not be our main focus. Rather we should focus more on taking more trips and earning from the trip fares itself, because that is what will make us sustain in this profession in the long term.”

Best Practices to Ensure Safety & 5-Star Experience for Riders

During the discussion, the winning driver-partners of the Uber Star Tournament shared some of the best practices to ensure top quality service alongside safety.

Sohail Hossain, third place winner, said, “It is my responsibility to ensure safety of my riders from the moment they enter my car to the moment I drop them off.”

Uber স্টার টুর্নামেন্টে প্রথম পুরস্কার বিজয়ী মনিরুজ্জামান বলেন, “আমরা ড্রাইভার-পার্টনাররাই আসলে Uber-এর মুখ। তাই ড্রাইভারদের ঠিকভাবে Uber অ্যাপ চালানো এবং নিরাপদভাবে প্রতিটি রাইড সম্পন্ন করা শিখানোটা আমাদেরই দায়িত্ব। একইভাবে, সেফটি টুলকিট এবং ইন্স্যুরেন্স এর মতো অ্যাপ-এর নানান ফীচারগুলো আমরাই পারি রাইডারদের বুঝিয়ে দিতে।”

নির্ভরযোগ্য আয়ের মাধ্যম হিসেবে Uber

অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ড্রাইভার-পার্টনাররা তাদের পরিবারের দেখাশোনা করার জন্য এবং তাদের স্বপ্ন পূরণের জন্য Uber-কে আয়ের মাধ্যম হিসেবে বেছে নিয়েছেন। তারা আস্থা রাখেন যে Uber তাদের জীবিকা নির্বাহের এবং একইসাথে তাদের ভবিষ্যতের সঞ্চয়ের জন্য পর্যাপ্ত সুযোগ ও সহযোগিতা দিতে পারছে।

একজন পার্টনার জানালেন যে তিনি Uber-এ তার প্রথম মাসের ট্রিপ ভাড়া থেকে ১ লক্ষ ৪০ হাজার টাকা আয় করেছেন। তিনি বলেন, “এখন আমি আমার পরিবারের জন্য একটি নির্ভরযোগ্য আয়ের উৎস নিশ্চিত করার পাশাপাশি আমার সব ঋণ পরিশোধের ব্যবস্থা করতে পেরেছি।”

UberMOTO থেকে তৃতীয় স্থান অধিকারী মোঃ সোহেল বলেন, “আমাদের বুঝতে হবে যে ট্রিপ ইন্সেন্টিভ আমাদের মূল লক্ষ্য হওয়া উচিত নয়। আমাদের লক্ষ্য হওয়া উচিত বেশি বেশি ট্রিপ দেয়া এবং তা থেকে বেশি আয় নিশ্চিত করা। কেননা এর মাধ্যমেই আমরা এই পেশায় দীর্ঘ সময়ের জন্য টিকে থাকতে পারব।

রাইডারদের জন্য নিরাপদ ট্রিপ ও ৫-স্টার অভিজ্ঞতা নিশ্চিত করতে করণীয়

তৃতীয় স্থান অধিকারী সোহেল হোসেন বলেন, “আমার যাত্রীরা আমার গাড়িতে উঠার সময় থেকে নিয়ে তাদেরকে গন্তব্যে পৌঁছে দেয়া পর্যন্ত তাদের নিরাপত্তার দায়িত্ব আমার।”
