National Museum Bangladesh
The museum is well organized and displays have been housed chronologically in several departments like department of ethnography and decorative art, department of history and classical art, department of natural history, and department of contemporary and world civilization. The museum also has a rich conservation laboratory

2. Liberation War Museum
The Liberation War Museum commemorates the Bangladesh Liberation War that led to the independence of Bangladesh from Pakistan. A museum opened on 22 March 1996, and has more than 21,000 artifacts and exhibits on display in the museum or stored in its archives.

3. Drik Gallery
Hit up an art exhibition at Drik Gallery and get inspired. This places hosts a variety of exhibitions and documentary viewings to showcase Bangladesh’s rich heritage and culture.

NATURE AND PARKS



1.Ramna Park
The Park features many beautiful and modern venues for relaxation. Stroll around Ramna Park for some fresh air with a loved one, or head on over on the weekends for a picnic or adda session with friends and family.

2. Botanical Gardens
It is one of the greatest botanical gardens of Bangladesh, a knowledge center for nature lovers and botanists and a tourist destination. The herbarium has a scientific collection of approximately 100,000 preserved specimens of plants. It is a haven for plant lovers. Go for a run in the early mornings here to start off your day amidst nature or pick up a sapling to enhance your green thumb!

3. Dhaka Zoo
Located right beside the Botanical Gardens, the zoo attracts around 10,000 visitors every day with the number increasing during the weekends and holidays. Aside from all the regular animals, the most interesting pairing there is the lone Rhino who spends his days with the most unusual companion – a sheep! You’ll have to see it to believe it!

HISTORICAL AND RELIGIOUS SITES



1.Shaheed Minar
The Shaheed Minar is a national monument established to commemorate those killed during the Bengali Language Movement demonstrations of 1952 in then East Pakistan. Head towards Shaheed Minar and check out all the culturally significant monuments in the Dhaka University area. This place also has the best road side tea, available in any flavour you can think of (our favourite is the green chilli tea!).

2. Lalbagh Fort
Lalbagh Fort is an incomplete 17th century Mughal fort complex that stands before the Buriganga River in the southwestern part of the city. The construction was started in 1678 AD by Mughal Subahdar Muhammad Azam Shah who was son of Emperor Aurangzeb and later emperor himself. His successor, Shaista Khan, did not continue the work, though he stayed in Dhaka up to 1688. Its a tribute to the glorious days of the Mughal Empire.

3. Ahsan Manzil
Ahsan Manzil was the official residential palace and seat of the Nawab of Dhaka. The building is situated at Kumartoli along the banks of the Buriganga River. It was constructed between 1859 and 1872 in the Indo-Saracenic Revival architecture and has now been declared a national museum. Another tribute to Mughal Dhaka of the old days.

FUN ACTIVITIES



1.Shilpokala Academy
Break your daily routines and catch a play at the Shilpokala Academy. It’s the Bangladeshi equivalent of Broadway and you can watch seasoned actors and novices alike create magic on stage.

2. Hatirjheel
Walk around Hatirjheel and take in the metropolitan Dhaka has become. Grab a bite to eat at the roadside stalls or take a boat ride across the lake.

3. Bashundhara City or Jamuna Future Park
Catch a movie at any of these malls. Now showing the latest movies, matching international release dates, catch the latest flick with friends and family.
