Meet Sabbir Ahmed Babu, one of our driver-partners from Uber Premier. He has been with Uber for almost one and a half years. He has recently been the talk of the town for his excellence in customer service by providing his riders with biscuits, water bottles and much more. This has been an exemplary service which has been highly praised by our riders. As such, we have also decided to bring his story to you.

What are the facilities that you keep in your car?

I keep some basic refreshments like water bottles and biscuits. There are tissue boxes, first aid box, some magazines and books as well. All these are just some basic things that I felt people might need or enjoy during their trips.

Why did you decide to keep these facilities in your car?

I was in Chennai when I first saw this kind of facilities in Uber cars. So I decided to introduce that here in Dhaka as well. I ordered similar hanging organiser online but it didn’t seem to be of good quality. So my wife and I came up with some modified design with customized pockets to keep water bottles and biscuits. My wife helped me create these at home and install the pocket organiser.

How do the riders react to find such amenities in your car?

Riders get surprised when they see that there is food, water and all these added facilities in the car. They thank and appreciate me for keeping these. Many riders have also said that they wish other drivers would keep some kind of refreshments in their cars.

Would you say this is helping you in getting more 6-star ratings and compliments from the riders?

Well, maybe. Riders appreciate when you go an extra mile for them, so such amenities make them feel a certain warmth, which often causes them to rate us highly. Sometimes they also add compliments.

But that’s not the only reason why I am doing this. I am trying to live by example that with just a little bit of effort, we can make something great out of something very ordinary. We need to bring the changes that we want to see and soon others will follow. And that’s what I have been trying to do throughout my journey so far at Uber.

How has your journey with Uber been so far?

I would like to thank Uber for giving us this great platform where we can share rides and support our family. Uber has also arranged 50% scholarship for my daughter’s education through the GenerationNext initiative, which has been a wonderful help for me. My journey so far has been nothing short of amazing and I am hoping I will be with this platform for a long term.

Many of our driver-partners and riders are reading this. What would be your message for them?

I would like to request the riders to put correct pick up and drop-off locations and try to stick to that.

For the drivers, I would like to ask them to be more polite and cordial with their behaviour to the riders. The better we behave with them, the happier they would be with the service. If it is within their means then they can also put up some kind of arrangement to keep some water and light snacks in their car. If they want, they can reach out to me and I will be very happy to help.

আপনার গাড়িতে যাত্রীদের জন্য কি ধরণের সুযোগ সুবিধা রাখেন?

পানির বোতল, বিস্কুট এইসব কিছু প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিস রাখি। টিসু বাক্স, ফার্স্ট এইড, ম্যাগাজিন এবং বই আছে গাড়িতে। কিছু সাধারণ জিনিস যা ট্রিপ চলাকালীন অবস্থায় যাত্রীদের প্রয়োজন হতে পারে।

আপনি কেন সিদ্ধান্ত নেন এই জিনিসগুলো আপনার গাড়িতে রাখার?

আমি চেন্নাই তে এমন ব্যবস্থা দেখে আসি। তখনি সিদ্ধান্ত নেই যে ঢাকায় আমি এই সুবিধাগুলো নিয়ে আসবো। ঢাকায় আমি অনলাইন থেকে কিছু ব্যাগ কিনি জিনিস রাখার জন্য। কিন্তু সেইগুলো মানে ও প্রয়োজনে না মিলায় আমি নিজেই অনেকগুলো পকেটসহ এই ডিসাইনটা তৈরী করি। আমার স্ত্রী তারপর এই ব্যাগগুলো আমাকে তৈরী করে দেয়।

আপনার গাড়িতে উঠে এই সুযোগ সুবিধাগুলো দেখে যাত্রীদের অভিমত কেমন হয়?

গাড়িতে খাবার, পানি এবং এতসব আয়োজন দেখে যাত্রীরা অবাক হয়ে যান। তারা আমাকে ধন্যবাদ জানান এবং আমার উদ্যোগের প্রশংসাও করেন। অনেকেই বলেন যে আমার মতো অন্য ড্রাইভাররাও যদি তাদের গাড়িতে এমন কিছু জিনিস রাখতেন তাহলে ভালো হতো।

আপনি কি মনে করেন এতে আপনি আরও বেশি ৬-স্টার রেটিং এবং কমপ্লিমেন্টস পাচ্ছেন?

এইধরণের বাড়তি কিছু ব্যবস্থা থাকলে যাত্রীরা আমাদের সেবার আন্তরিকতাটুকু অনুভব করতে পারেন। যার ফলে স্বভাবতই রেটিংটাও ভালো পাওয়া যায়। মাঝে মাঝে অনেকে কমপ্লিমেন্টসও যোগ করে দেন।

তবে এই প্রাপ্তির আশায় আমি এইসব করছি না। আমার ইচ্ছা একটি উদাহরণ সৃষ্টি করা। অল্প একটু চেষ্টা করলেই আমরা খুব সাধারণ একটি জিনিসকে খুব অসাধারণ কিছুতে পরিণত করতে পারি। যদি কোনো পরিবর্তন আমরা দেখতে চাই, আমাদের নিজেদেরকেই সেই পরিবর্তন আনার জন্য কাজ করতে হবে এবং Uber এ এখন পর্যন্ত আমি সেই চেষ্টাই করছি।

Uber-এর সাথে আপনার এখন পর্যন্ত অভিজ্ঞতা কেমন?

আমি Uber কে ধন্যবাদ জানাতে চাই আমাদেরকে এমন একটি প্ল্যাটফরম দেয়ার জন্য যেখানে আমরা ট্রিপ শেয়ার করতে পারছি এবং তা দিয়ে আমাদের পরিবারের দেখাশোনা করছি। Uber তাদের GenerationNext উদ্যোগের মাধ্যমে আমার মেয়ের জন্য ৫০% বৃত্তির ব্যবস্থা করে দিয়েছে, যা আমার জন্য দারুন এক সহযোগিতার কাজ করছে। এখন পর্যন্ত Uber-এ আমার অভিজ্ঞতা অভাবনীয় এবং আমি আশা করছি যে এই প্ল্যাটফরমে দীর্ঘদিন ধরে আমি থাকতে পারবো।

আমাদের অনেক ড্রাইভার-পার্টনার এবং যাত্রীরা এই লেখাটি পড়ছেন। তাদের উদ্দেশ্যে কি বলবেন?

আমি যাত্রীদের কাছে অনুরোধ করবো তারা যেন পিকআপ এবং গন্তব্যের জন্য সঠিক লোকেশনটি বেছে নেন এবং তা অনুসরণ করার চেষ্টা করেন।

ড্রাইভার ভাইদের বলবো যাত্রীদের সাথে আরো অমায়িক ও সুন্দরভাবে আচরণ করতে। আমাদের ভালো ব্যবহারেই যাত্রীদের একটি ভালো ট্রিপ অভিজ্ঞতা নিশ্চিত হবে। সম্ভব হলে তারাও আমার মতো গাড়িতে কিছু খাবার ও পানীয় রাখতে পারেন যাত্রীদের জন্য। এতে কোনো সাহায্যের প্রয়োজন হলে আমি তাদেরকে যেকোনো ধরণের সহায়তা করতে প্রস্তুত।
