Required Documents
As a driver-partner in your state, you have certain obligations under rideshare legislation. As well as ensuring your vehicle’s brakes, seat belts and tyres are in good operating condition, you also need to conduct regular maintenance checks according to your vehicle’s manufacturing recommendations. You may be contacted to provide vehicle maintenance records including service logbook and mechanic receipts.
What is a Service Logbook?
A vehicle service logbook is a guide provided by the vehicle manufacturer containing information on the recommended service requirements for the vehicle. Service logbooks come with the car, and are often kept in the passenger side glove box.
Your service logbook will need to contain:
- A maintenance date within the last 12 months
- The correct make of the vehicle
- A registered mechanic’s details (either stamped or handwritten)
- An up-to-date list of maintenance work done on the vehicle
- An odometer reading
What details must be present?
- Maintenance date within the last 12 months
- Vehicle details (registration or make/model)
- Registered mechanic details
- Itemised list of vehicle servicing work carried out
- Odometer reading
- Statement confirming the maintenance work was completed in line with manufacturer’s recommendations

What is a Mechanic Invoice?
A mechanic invoice is a document or receipt which lists the maintenance work performed by the registered mechanic. Mechanic invoices come in a variety of forms, so it’s important to look at the entire document to identify whether the appropriate details are present.
What details must be present?
- Maintenance date within the last 12 months
- Vehicle details (registration or make/model)
- Registered mechanic details
- Details of vehicle servicing work carried out
