This week marks the end of Ramadan, a time of spiritual reflection and worship for many people around the world and in the Uber driver-partner community.
To give back to Sydney driver-partners celebrating Ramadan, Uber Sydney held a Ramadan iftar dinner at sundown, with a huge turn out! In fact it was our biggest partner appreciation event ever!
Ramadan is the term for the ninth month in the Islamic calendar. Many Muslims in Australia fast during the daylight hours throughout the month of Ramadan. In Australia, the very first Fast took place on June 6, 2016 to welcome the holy month of Ramadan. The fasting lasts for 30 days and ends when the New Moon is first seen at the end of the month.
Uber Sydney’s iftar dinner was held at the Orion Function Centre in Campsie, New South Wales, where over 500 driver-partners, loved ones, and members of Uber team celebrated the end of Ramadan.
Huss, a driver-partner since September 2014, was one of the hundreds that attended.
Huss is a full-time father and drives with Uber in his spare time when he’s not looking after his children.
“Becoming an Uber driver-partner nearly 18 months ago has been the best experience I have ever had.”
Huss had an opportunity to sit with one of his favourite Uber buddies Dom at the iftar Ramadan dinner. They had a blast breaking their fast while listening to a Ramadan experience and watching a video put together from 15 Uber countries around the world to say “Happy Ramadan” to attendees.
To all of our partners celebrating, we wish a joyous and peaceful Ramadan to you and your family! Ramadan Mubarak and Ramadan Kareem!
