A new trial: wait more than 5 minutes, you may be eligible for 20% off your next ride
29January,2019 / SydneyFor a limited time, select riders in Sydney will enjoy 20% off their next ride if they wait more than 5 minutes after being matched with their driver.
Here’s how it works:
- You request a ride with UberX before 13 February.
- The app matches you with your driver.
- Once you’re matched, if your ride takes more than 5 minutes to arrive you will be eligible for 20% off your next trip.
The offer applies to requests made in the map shown above. If the request is cancelled, the timer starts again when they’re matched with a new driver-partner.

Terms & Conditions: This offer only applies to select Riders in Sydney who received an email about the promotion. The offer applies to trips with UberX completed until 12:00am AEDT 13 February 2019 where the pick up location confirmed by the rider in their Uber app is within the area of Sydney pictured in this email (“Pick up Location”). The 5 minute period starts when the Uber app informs the rider that they have been matched with a driver and ends when the driver arrives within 25 meters of the Pick Up Location. Where the 5 minute period is exceeded, an email will be sent to the rider within 24 hours of the impacted ride, following which a 20% promotion will automatically be applied to the rider’s next trip with UberX. Maximum value of the promotion is $25, to be redeemed on a single ride and not in conjunction with any other offer. Promotion must be redeemed by 12:00am AEDT 27th February 2019 on your next ride within Australia and is not transferable. Does not apply to cancellation fees. Uber retains the right to amend or cancel this promotion at its discretion without notice.
