Optus Stadium on an event day can expect crowds of up to 60,000 people – that’s a lot of earning potential for driver-partners. Completing trips to or from the stadium on these days can be tricky with a number of road closures and diversions.
Picking up and dropping off
Optus Stadium has a dedicated rideshare zone to pick up or drop off riders on event days. You can access the zone via Nelson Avenue, on the East Perth side of Matagarup Pedestrian Bridge – look for bays 5-8 on your left.
Important: To drop off or pick up riders from the rideshare zone on Nelson Avenue, you will need to visibly display an Uber sticker in your car. You can get a sticker from your local Greenlight Hub.
Riders will need to walk cross Matagrup Bridge to access the pickup/dropoff bays from Waterloo Crescent.
For a full view of all upcoming events at Optus Stadium, visit their event page.
Trips to Optus Stadium on an event day
- Let the rider know that you can’t drop them directly at Optus Stadium due to road closures.
- Explain that the rideshare zone is on Nelson Ave and they’ll need to walk cross Matagrup Bridge.
- Change, or request they change, the destination in the app to: Nelson Ave, East Perth.
Getting your Uber sticker
You can order your sticker online here but it may take 7-14 business days to be mailed to you.
Tips:

Waiting for trip requests after an event
Drivers that loiter in the rideshare zone will be moved on by traffic management. We recommend waiting outside the road closures until you receive a request.

Make sure you use the dedicated rideshare bays
You will not be permitted to pick up or drop off riders on the roads surrounding Optus Stadium or in the dedicated Taxi rank. WA Police and/or the Department of Transport may issue fines if these rules are not followed.

Road closures
On event days, roads entering Nile Street will be restricted to local residents and on-demand vehicles (such as taxis and Uber). Nelson Avenue will become a one way road, that can only be entered from Nile Street.
Tip: The Crown Casino could be another hot spot, as many riders also request trips from their on event days.
