Owner of Mister Minh, Minh Chu is the King of Melbourne’s Vietnamese dining scene, and with good reason. We go behind the scenes at his newest venture, Mister Minh, to learn why he won’t be slowing down anytime soon.Richmond is filled to the brim with vibrant Vietnamese eateries. But despite the fierce competition, Mister Minh continues to consistently rate as one of the top performing picks on UberEATS.

What is it then, that sets Mister Minh apart from the pack?“It’s me!” Minh Chu laughs. And he’s absolutely right.

The effervescent frontman of Binh Minh for 20 years, Minh has a legion of loyal fans who’ve vowed to follow wherever he sets up shop. This time around, it’s an unassuming commercial kitchen on Bridge Road, dedicated to home delivery through UberEATS.“It’s given me a platform to expose my food to new customers,” he says.So while you’ll no longer be greeted with a kiss on either cheek, a warm hug, and a seat at your “favourite place by the window”, Minh guarantees you’ll be treated to the same flavours you’ve come to know and love, but in the comfort of your own home.

“We are very passionate, we pay attention to detail, and most importantly, we are consistent,” Minh explains.“We build long-term relationships, a lot of our customers are have been with me from the start.”There are all your favourites, including the fried rice, pork spring rolls, chicken pho, and the curry laksa. And you can’t go past the mouth-watering prawn dumplings, or yummy chicken wings with sexy sauce, which as Minh explains with a cheeky glint in his eye, is made with “lots of love and passion.”But if you thought Minh’s role in revolutionising Melbourne’s culinary scene with a home-delivery service would keep him busy enough, think again.

Minh wants to expand. Good news south-siders, his sights are set on Prahran. “Watch this space,” he says with his signature smile.Oh, we will.
