The Australian Open 2018 takes place from 15-28 January at Melbourne Park. To ensure a smooth drop-off and pickup experience, Tennis Australia staff will direct riders and driver-partners to a dedicated Uber area opposite AAMI Park on the northern side of the Olympic Boulevard (Punt Road end).
Here’s your driver-partner guide to the Australian Open 2018.
How to access the pickup and drop-off area
Step 1: Print your pass or pick one up at the Greenlight Hub
You can download and print your access pass by tapping the link below, or you can visit the Port Melbourne Greenlight Hub to pick up a pass. We recommend taping the access pass on the inside of the front windshield of your vehicle so that you’re easily recognisable at the venue, otherwise you may be refused entry.
Step 2: Head to the drop-off and pickup areas
Drop-offs: You can drop off riders at the general public area in front of the Hisense Arena on Olympic Boulevard.
Pickups:
- UberBLACK, uberASSIST – You can pick up riders at the general public area in front of the Hisense Arena on Olympic Boulevard.
- uberX, uberXL, UberSELECT – You can pick up riders at the Uber dedicated pick up area opposite AAMI Park on the northern side of the Olympic Boulevard (Punt Road end).
Important note: no vehicles in the precinct will be able to drop off or pick up riders on the southern side of Olympic Boulevard. Driver-partners are NOT permitted to drop-off or pick up riders in the dedicated Taxi rank in front of Rod Laver Area. Victoria Police will be issuing fines if these rules aren’t met.
How to enter the areas
There are a few ways to enter the pickup and drop-off areas at the Australian Open:
- If you’re coming from Punt Road/Hoddle St/Swan St, driver-partners with visible access passes will be able to do a U-turn just before the Hisense Arena or just after the Taxi rank (see map below).
- If you are coming from Alexandra Avenue, you will be able to enter the pickup and drop-off areas on the left hand side of Olympic Boulevard as normal. However, expect delays due to heavy congestion.
Road Closures
Currently, there are no road closures planned. However, if this changes we will update this page with more information.
Peak Times
Based on last year’s Australian Open, there may be an increase in the number of trip requests on the weekends of the event and at the end of the morning, afternoon and evening sessions. You can view the latest update of the competition schedule here.
Handy tips:
- Download the latest version of the Uber Driver App from the App Store or Google Play Store.
- Download and print your access pass.
- Drop off and pick up riders inside the dedicated zones. Traffic enforcement will be strict around the venue, so for safety reasons we recommend against dropping off riders on the street.
