We know that you want the largest choice of restaurants and affordable dishes delivered via the Uber Eats app with speed, convenience and reliability – that’s why we’ve introduced advanced technology to help unlock a range of more affordable delivery fee options, while still allowing you to access further-away restaurants at a higher price.

During times of high demand, a busy area fee may also apply to some orders and you’ll see an increased delivery fee. You may not always see all delivery fee options, as they depend on the availability of restaurants on the app. However, you’ll always see the total delivery fee (including any busy area fee amount) upfront before you place an order.

How are the delivery fees determined?

The delivery fee you pay will vary depending on the restaurant’s distance from your delivery address and the restaurant’s average cost of orders.

The app will always show the delivery fee amount before you place an order.

In cities where busy area fees have launched a busy area fee may also apply to some orders during times of high demand,  and you’ll see an increased delivery fee.

Why does a restaurant that is closer to me have a higher delivery fee than a restaurant that is further from me?

The delivery fee you pay may vary depending on several factors, including the restaurant’s distance from your delivery address.

While in many cases you may see a lower delivery fee for restaurants closer to you, this may not always be the case.

The app will always show the delivery fee amount before you place an order.

Why has the delivery fee increased for a restaurant that I normally order from?

The delivery fee you see for different restaurants may vary depending on several factors, including the restaurant’s distance from your delivery address.

While this means that the delivery fee you pay to order from a certain restaurant has increased, it may be cheaper to order from some restaurants that are closer to you.

Why are these new delivery fees being introduced?

We know that you want the largest choice of restaurants and affordable dishes delivered via the Uber Eats app with speed, convenience and reliability  – that’s why we’ve introduced technology to help unlock more affordable delivery fee options, while still allowing you to access further-away restaurants at a higher price.

Why am I paying a busy area fee during times of high demand?

The busy area fee is designed to provide more choice and reliability to eaters by helping ensure they have a great selection of restaurants available to them during busy times when selection might otherwise be limited. During these times, you may be asked to pay a higher delivery fee to your restaurant when you place an order. The fee helps ensure that you can still get the food that you want when you want it, even in times of high demand.

Is the busy area fee different from the Delivery fee ?

The busy area fee only applies in times of high demand and operates to increase the total delivery fee you pay for orders placed via the Uber Eats app.

How will I be able to tell if a busy area fee applies to my order?

The Uber Eats app will always show the delivery fee upfront before you place an order. If a busy area fee applies, an arrow will appear below the restaurant name and the higher delivery fee will be displayed above the menu and reflected on the order receipt.

How is the busy area fee calculated?

The busy area fee is dynamic. The calculation of the busy area fee takes into account  the demand in a certain area at a particular time.

Does this mean that every restaurant in the city will have an additional fee?

The busy area fee will only appear at times of high demand in certain areas. When it applies,  it will be included in the delivery fee, which will always be displayed in app before you place an order.
