Restrictions and guidelines on items for Direct and Connect deliveries

Requesters may not send the following items:

  • Alcohol 0.5% ABV or higher (e.g. beer, wine, liquor)
  • Tobacco, tobacco products, vaping products or similar items
  • Weapons or explosives
  • Illegal items (items that are illegal to possess, transfer or sell), or regulated items unless expressly permitted
  • Stolen goods
  • Hazardous materials/goods (e.g. flammable, poisonous, explosive), including paints or adhesives containing a flammable liquid, substances and material identified as ‘dangerous goods’ in any laws or regulations in Australia. This does not include household cleaning chemicals, which are subject to restrictions, see below
  • Fireworks
  • People or animals including Endangered Species or parts thereof; regulated plants (e.g. noxious weeds, plants, prohibited seeds)
  • Cannabidiol (CBD) including oil or food products; any form of marijuana or paraphernalia; other herbal controlled substances
  • Money; gift cards; lottery tickets; coins; travellers cheques; securities of any kind payable to bearer; platinum, gold or silver, manufactured or otherwise; jewels; other articles of high intrinsic value; or precious stones (all valuable natural mineral stone, silica or substances extracted from the group, whether in its natural state or refined, processed, set or treated)
  • Drugs, pharmaceutical products, prescription medications, over-the-counter medications (Note: Uber may grant specific dispensation to allow transportation of select over-the-counter medications)
  • Any items for which the requester does not have permission to send

In addition to the restrictions above, requesters who are using Uber Connect may not send:

  • Items with a total value greater than $100 AUD
  • Items which together (per trip) weigh more than 20kg
  • Items which together (per trip) do not fit comfortably in the boot of a mid-size motor vehicle
  • Fragile items
  • Over-the-counter medications, vitamins and supplements including weight loss, nutrition, protein powder, herbalifes (in addition to drugs, pharmaceutical products, prescription medications which are prohibited as per the list above)
  • Hemp, including milk, seeds or hearts
  • The Requester assumes all responsibility for damage due to temperature sensitivity for perishable food or beverages
  • Small Package: Items which together (per trip) weigh more than 5 kg and do not fit comfortably in the delivery bag of a motorbike
  • Package: Items which together (per trip) weigh more than 20 kg and do not fit comfortably in the boot of a mid-size car

Requesters may send the following items, subject to the restrictions noted below:

  • Aerosols – Limited to 2 items per delivery
  • Household cleaning chemicals such as bleach, disinfectants, drain cleaner – Limited to 2 items per delivery
  • Electronics including laptops, mobile phones, TVs, chargers – Limited to max of 2 lithium batteries within products (e.g. laptops), but no loose/spare lithium batteries. Electronics must be suitably packed and protected, for example with a strong outer box

Delivery persons may cancel a Direct or Connect delivery request if they have difficulty lifting any items. The following guidelines detail the maximum sizes for delivery:

Maximum number of items: 8 (bags, boxes)
Maximum weight limit per item:20kg per item (for Uber Connect weight limit for total delivery is 20kg)
Maximum item size (largest of height, width or length):175cm 
Maximum item volume: 2m3 (e.g. roughly 175 x 130 x 90cm)
