During the course of any night out we are often presented with two options: go hard or Ghost home.
Uber has teamed up with DrinkWise to make it easy for you to bail out of a social setting if your friends want to keep drinking – but you don’t.
‘Ghost with Uber’ is a modern twist on the age-old tradition of sneaking out unnoticed and hightailing it home – also known as smoke bombing, the Irish Goodbye, or the French Exit.
How does it work?
- Just open the Uber app on Friday or Saturday nights, between 8pm and 2am.
- Click on the Ghost card to enter ‘Ghost mode*’ and request a ride home on uberX.
- When you’re enroute, ‘Share Status’ with friends to reveal you’ve slid out – under their noses – and you’re on your way home.
Uber and DrinkWise
Ghost with Uber is based on the insight that people often feel compelled against their better judgement to keep drinking by their friends and this practical approach from Uber and DrinkWise helps discourage bingeing and allows people to get home safely from a night out.
The new initiative provides an extension to the internationally acclaimed ‘How to Drink Properly’ campaign, which continues to raise awareness of the importance of making better decisions when consuming alcohol.
When it ’s time to go, it’s time to Ghost with Uber.
*Available in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth and Adelaide.
