Frequently asked questions
- What are the differences between being an independent courier and working for a fleet partner?
Independent couriers (ICs) have total freedom in managing their activity. As an IC, you determine your own fares (the price at which you wish to deliver for Uber). You also get to choose where you deliver and determine when you want to go online and offline. Uber will provide you key details for every delivery trip offer (distance, price, addresses of pickup and dropoff); you decide whether to accept or reject the individual trip offer. You do not face any negative consequences for rejecting a trip offer. You also decide the best way to carry out the trip offer (that is, by bike, scooter, or automobile). Uber does not dictate these terms.
Fleet couriers have an employment agreement with a deliver fleet partner. Fleet partners independently recruit and onboard their couriers and ask Uber to create an account for each courier. As in every employment relationship, the courier will be under the direction of the fleet employer and should follow the fleet instructions—when and where to connect, any work requirements and other performance metrics decided by the fleet. Uber does not dictate these metrics. Fleet partners may also provide some employment benefits and social security payments to their couriers. More information about any available benefits is available from our fleet partners.
- What are the requirements to be an independent courier with Uber?
When you become an independent courier, you’ll be prompted about which documents are required based on your mode of transportation. Once we have reviewed them and confirmed your eligibility to work in Denmark, we will contact you to let you know when you will be able to connect and deliver with us.
- What is the process to work as a courier with a fleet partner?
To work as a fleet courier, you’ll need to apply to be employed by a fleet partner here. Once this process is completed, the fleet will be responsible for contacting you and uploading the necessary documentation.
- How often would I have to deliver with Uber Eats?
As an independent courier, you will have full flexibility in deciding your schedule. You have the right to decide if, when, where, and how long to go online to receive trip offers. You can ignore or reject trip offers without negative consequences.
If you’re a fleet partner employee, your schedule and working hours will be defined by the work contract you have with the fleet employer. Uber is not involved and doesn’t interfere with this.
