uberX: now arriving in Berlin
Read in German
You’ve been using the uberX option in London, Paris, Vienna and in other cities all over the world? You’ve been waiting for Uber to finally bring back the Uber experience to the German capital? We’re happy to announce that as of today your uberX service has finally arrived in Berlin. We are working with professional partners and partner drivers to get you from A to B in a reliable, safe and affordable way all at the tap of a button.
What’s unique about the uberX option in Berlin?
- All drivers on the platform are professional drivers with a concession, a passenger transportation license as well as a commercial insurance.
- The partners we work with are professional transportation providers from Berlin, most of whom we have closely worked with since the early days of our service uberTAXI in Berlin.
- With the launch of the uberX option we are giving those local transportation providers the possibility to expand their business and to maintain and create additional job opportunities in Berlin.
The uberX option is about building “Smart Cities” of the future – Berlin being one of them. With its world class public transportation system, its status as a leading car sharing city and its many mobility startups, Berlin is a great example of a modern innovation hub. The uberX option enriches Berlin’s existing mobility alternatives and paves the way for uberPOOL – Uber’s flagship product when it comes to smart mobility.
The technology behind uberPOOL allows us to combine riders with other riders on similar routes, thereby getting more people into fewer cars, decreasing traffic, congestion and the necessity of having to build more parking spaces in cities. uberPOOL is currently available in 33 cities, including European capitals such as Paris and London. In San Francisco, for example, more than half of all trips are taken with uberPOOL.
“With the launch of the uberX option we are laying the ground for uberPOOL in Berlin”, says Christian Freese ( GM Germany). “We would like to make sure that cities and riders can benefit from the positive effects of technology.”
