Tell us a little bit about yourself. Which city do you live in? How did you get into design?

I’m 31 and I come from Krakow. Ever since I was a child i’ve loved all forms of artistic expression, especially those related to graphics, so becoming a graphic designer came to me very naturally.

Tell us a little bit about your design? What inspired it?

It took me a while to figure out what I could create for Munich. Eventually I decided to go for M letter as a symbol of massiveness and power of German nation. A map is related to travel and Munich’s attractiveness to tourists. The picture is completed by a pink background suggested by the 99design team.

What makes your city so special to you?

I’ve been living in Krakow since i was born so the city is special to me because of hundreds of experiences and memories related to it. I appreciate Krakow’s rich history and culture. Krakow native inhabitants are really proud of their city. I have met lots of foreigners visiting or living in Krakow and they have all been greatly impressed with this city.

What is your favourite spot in your city? Where do you draw inspiration from

There are plenty. If I were to choose one, the really magical place is the salt mine in Wieliczka right next to Krakow. You can feel there like you are in a film. The surreal underground corridors, game of lights and old scultpures in salt all add to its unique climate.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

What I like most about drawing is when the ideas are born. I have always liked to come up with ideas for books and stories, so I could say that the very chance to think of ideas is inspiring.

As I am living as a foreigner in London, this city always brings me special feeling.

What is your favourite spot in your city?

I live around Shoreditch in east London, a very artistic area both in day and night.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

I travel and view this city in daytime, then at night I return to my own world, for my free spirit and imagination.

Tell us a little bit about your design? What inspired it?

Maybe unlike other artists, I have never been to Munich Before, so I did some research online. A lot of beautiful images about its unique culture inspired me, And I wish I could travel to this lovely city one day.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. Which city do you live in? How did you get into design?

I am a graphic designer from Sofia, Bulgaria. My main and most frequent tasks are metal bands’ requests, which are connected with CD covers and print materials conveying them like booklets, posters, t-shirts etc. My full time job is connected with java script animation and canvas programing. I have about 10 years experience in design, animation, coding. The way I begun doing design was just a sequel of my hobby, eventually transformed into a job.

What makes your city so special to you?

Sofia, .. I wouldn’t call it special. Personally I prefer other capitals for living, such as Helsinki or Stockholm. In Bulgaria, Sofia is the place to pop up, and even if you are into smaller cities or towns you are somewhat compelled to move in here in order to be noticed, in terms of what you do. In other words, this is called ‘provinceonalism’

What is your favourite spot in your city?

There are several favourite places here in Sofia – The ortodox church Alexander Nevski, which is next to the Sofia University, and the parliament. The mountain Vitosha is another great mark which, majestically soars up from the suburbs of the city (about 1700 metres high). The parks around are a very welcoming place where you can take some rest in your free time. The city parks here are huge and are locationally proportioned, so that we have South, West, East and North parks. Each of them is very beautiful and possesses its own characteristics. Recently, in Sofia have been built quite artistic and modern buildings, and together with the old, traditional and classic ones, they make a stark contrast, which can come in as a recourse for inspiration.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

As a CD cover designer I mainly draw inspiration from other colleagues in the area and world-wide approved illustrators. Some of them are Travis Smith, Zdislav Beksinsky, Seth Siro Anton, Par Oloffson, Dan Mumford, etc. Personally speaking, in terms of giving birth to ideas, I mostly entangle into minute details. According to me there is a special connection between the most tiny composites and the visual as a whole. Not always following the golden ratio, but the true derivation of the ‘wow’ effect. Sometimes the idea is born when even brushing the background texture without a clear idea for the foreground. In other words, a contrastive and meaningful concept is derived from the influence of its details. A true craft, for instance, is when you can create something very gloomy and dark with the meaning and vision of something light, positive and divine.

Tell us a little bit about your design? What inspired it?

Some of the agendas that should be here, I already mentioned in the latter paragraph. The initial inspiration for what I am now in terms of style is Travis Smith. I adore his one and only approach towards the way he visualizes music. He is a genius to me. There is nothing, connected with type of illustration, that can be closer to me. A real teacher from whom one can learn how to best mix illustrative and digital way of visualizing. I also do mix art – illustration + photo materials. Macro photography helps a lot in this case. I also love to shoot some grunge or corrosive parts, and with a certain vignetting, contrast and brush technique I make textures out of them. Well, that’s it briefly said 🙂
