Millions of rides a day. Zero emissions.
That’s our commitment to every single person on the planet. The path there will be electric. It will be shared. It will be with buses and trains and bicycles and scooters. These monumental changes won’t come easy. Or fast. But we have a plan to get there, and we need you to come along for the ride.
Announce global commitment to becoming a zero-emission mobility platform
Hundreds of thousands of drivers transition to electric vehicles (EVs) through our Green Future program
Uber is operating as a zero-emission mobility platform in major cities in Canada, Europe, and the US
100% of rides globally are in zero-emission vehicles or through micromobility and public transit
Offering more ways to ride green
We’re committed to providing sustainable, shared alternatives to the personal car.
You can now tap a button and request a ride in an electric or hybrid vehicle in cities across Germany and all around the world—with 30% lower carbon intensity than taking your own car. Approximately half of the cars that our fleet partners in Germany utilize are already hybrid today.
Transit & rural area pilots
We’re partnering with local transit agencies around the world to add real-time transit information and ticket purchase and redemption directly in the Uber app.
In Germany we are running rural area pilots in Kirchheim near Munich and in Falkensee in Brandenburg. With these projects we aim to improve mobility beyond city centres and reduce the use of private vehicles.
Bikes and scooters
We’ve integrated Lime bikes and scooters into the Uber app across 65+ cities globally, with Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt and Munich being part of those in Germany, and with plans to expand micromobility options. Also Jump Bikes are available in several German cities.
“As the largest mobility platform in the world, we know that our impact goes beyond our technology. We want to do our part to build back better and support a green recovery in our cities and communities.”
Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber CEO
Helping drivers go electric
Drivers are leading the way toward a greener future, and Uber is committed to supporting them. Our Green Future program provides access to resources valued at $800 million to help hundreds of thousands of drivers transition to battery EVs by 2025 in Canada, Europe, and the US.
Partnering to fight climate change
Uber is bringing our innovation, technology, and talent to the fight against climate change. We’re partnering with NGOs, advocacy groups, and environmental justice organizations to help expedite a clean and just energy transition. We’re also teaming up with experts, vehicle manufacturers, charging network providers, EV rental fleets, and utility companies to help drivers gain affordable access to green vehicles and charging infrastructure.
Our collaborators and partners
Making transparency a priority
Progress starts with taking a serious look at where we stand today and sharing results to drive accountability.
Uber's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) report shows how, through core business and social impact activities, we help make real life easier to navigate for everyone.
Climate Assessment and Performance Report
Our Climate Assessment and Performance Report analyzes the nearly 4 billion rides taken on our platform in the US and Canada from 2017 to 2019. Uber is the only mobility company to assess and publish real-world sustainability data.
Science Based Targets initiative
Uber joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to help ensure accountability and rigor in our push to become a zero-emission platform. The SBTi defines best practices in target setting and independently assesses and approves progress.
This site and the related Climate Assessment and Performance Report (the “Report”) contain forward-looking statements regarding our future business expectations and goals, which involve risks and uncertainties. Actual results may differ materially from the results anticipated. For more information, please see our Report.
