Sr Software Engineer, iOS - Uber for Family

About the Role

Uber for Family team builds products that safely and seamlessly connect families, guardians, and dependents across our Mobility and Delivery platforms. As a Senior iOS Engineer, you will design and build highly reliable, consumer-facing mobile experiences. Operating at Uber's massive global scale, you will tackle complex, open-ended technical challenges and set the standard for engineering excellence on your team.

What You Will Do

  • Solve Ambiguous Problems: Consistently write and document high-quality code to solve complex problems that are not well-defined and span multiple related areas or projects.
  • Define Engineering Standards: Define standards in testing, monitoring, and alerting systems, and lead the team to execute against them to ensure code reliability.
  • Architect for the Future: Anticipate business needs and develop high-quality mobile architectures that meet current needs and can be extended for future requirements.
  • Mentor and Multiply: Provide high-quality code and design review feedback to optimize performance and efficiency. Recruits, onboards, and proactively mentors engineers, helping them understand how to increase their impact.
  • Drive Alignment: Make and embrace team decisions that are good for Uber, rallying engineers around technical goals with a strong bias for action.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Deep expertise in iOS development using Swift and Objective-C.
  • Strong understanding of mobile application architecture, SDKs, and design patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVC).
  • Experience writing comprehensive tests and establishing monitoring systems.
  • Algorithm & Data Structures fundamentals is expected for this position, including hash tables, trees, stacks, queues, linked list, DFS, BFS.
  • Advanced English language skills are also important since this team will be working with other engineers and stakeholders from different regions around the world

Preferred Qualifications

  • Consumer Scale: Experience building customer-facing or consumer products handling high-volume traffic.
  • Strategic Design: Track record of identifying architectural gaps and actively reducing technical debt across systems.
  • Team Leadership: Proven ability to drive projects through all lifecycle stages—from idea inception and stakeholder engagement to productionization.
