Senior Software Engineer- Fullstack

About the Role

Our team builds and manages the tools and services that power the lifecycle of critical actions taken supporting Uber’s Marketplace Security ecosystem.

Operating in more than 2,000 cities worldwide, Uber’s marketplace faces a diverse range of potential threats -- from natural disasters impacting large regions to localized safety incidents affecting individual neighborhoods. Our team builds and maintains the technology solutions that enable timely, effective responses to major marketplace incidents, protecting drivers and riders from dangerous situations and safeguarding Uber's brand.

This role is for a development lead, managing three other developers, who will also be writing code to design, build, and scale systems that help keep Uber’s global community safe. You’ll develop and maintain full-stack applications, manage business-critical databases and real-time services, and work closely with cross-functional partners to integrate security needs into Uber's marketplace configuration platform.

Your contributions will directly support Uber’s mission to protect drivers, riders, and delivery partners-- helping ensure the safety and integrity of millions of marketplace interactions every day.

  1. Full-stack development in front-end and back-end Uber systems to support Marketplace Security needs.
  2. Manage a team of 3 Marketplace Security developers, to be hired along with this position.
  3. Partner with engineering teams across Uber to deliver new Marketplace Security features

---- Basic Qualifications ----

  1. BS or MS in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  2. 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong focus on web development.
  3. Proven experience building and scaling complex web applications using Node.js, TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS.
  4. Strong software design and coding skills, with a focus on maintainability and scalability.
  5. A keen eye for product design and a passion for delivering exceptional user experiences.
  6. Demonstrated ability to drive complex projects from concept through launch and ongoing iteration.
  7. Excellent problem-solving, architectural, and algorithmic thinking abilities.
  8. Deep commitment to code quality, reliability, and performance.
  9. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively across all levels -- from engineers to senior leadership.

---- Preferred Qualifications ----

  1. Proven experience and interest in full-stack development, with strong emphasis on backend systems.
  2. Demonstrated success in driving collaboration with Product Management, Design, and other cross-functional partners.
  3. Experience leading teams and mentoring engineers to achieve technical and professional growth.
  4. Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages, such as Java, or Go.
  5. Prior experience working on business-critical systems with measurable impact on company performance and top-line growth.
