Engineering Manager II
About the Role
We are seeking a talented, experienced, and highly technical engineering manager to lead Uber's Delivery Search Data Foundations and Measurement team. The team seeks to supercharge the quantity, quality, freshness, and reliability of the data and measurements backing the Uber Eats search experience, across both our established online food delivery business and our early-lifecycle grocery & retail vertical.
---- What You Will Do ----
In this role, you will:
- Enable and expand the use of cutting-edge data-hungry ML techniques to help Eaters find the most relevant and enticing items from our Merchants' vast catalog.
- Define, align, and drive adoption of Search-wide standards and best practices for working with data across streaming and batch ingestion processes, to support ML training, ML inference, and internal monitoring and evaluation throughout the product lifecycle.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across software engineering, ML engineering, product, and TPM, inside and outside of Search, to synthesize requirements into a coherent and high-impact multi-year roadmap.
- Support and empower a talented, cohesive, and motivated team of engineers.
---- What You Will Need ----
- 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience, including experience at the Staff+ level.
- 3+ years of people management experience.
- Experience operating with stateful and/or pipeline-based systems at high scale, with demonstrated impact reflecting a thoughtful design orientation and an understanding of the tradeoffs in data-intensive systems.

- Experience building or leading teams in data-intensive domains such as infrastructure, ML platforms, search, real-time analytics pipelines.
- Deep experience across both traditional backend engineering and data engineering domains.
- Experience leading cross-site teams and/or working with cross-site stakeholders.
