Marketplace Operations and Strategy Manager

About the Role

The UK Marketplace team’s mission is to ensure that customers in the UK have a reliable, affordable and convenient service at all times in all places. This is a hugely challenging task that requires our brightest minds to solve complex product and operational challenges. We use data to inform everything we do, including identifying and executing initiatives to improve performance and health of the marketplace, optimising product pricing, deploying incentives and promotions, launching new product features and pricing technology. This role will focus on core pricing and marketplace health monitoring, but you will have the opportunity to work across various projects and own core business processes, according to business priorities.

What the Candidate Will Do:

  • You will own core business processes and deliver projects that improve marketplace efficiency and rider experience by assessing how best to adjust various system levers
  • You will manage and deliver multiple projects, alongside delivering regular business performance monitoring and reporting, executing in a constantly changing, complex environment
  • You will use data analysis, business modelling and experimentation, applying your strong business acumen, to understand business and product performance and identify issues/opportunities and solutions to improve marketplace efficiency and performance.
  • You will engage with a number of functions across the business to gather inputs and present your proposals to ensure proposed solutions balance multiple business objectives and to coordinate solution implementations, e.g. other UK Operations teams, Finance, Product, Legal, Customer support, EMEA Central Operations
  • You may have the opportunity to collaborate closely with our Product teams to test and roll out new features that improve the Uber app

What the Candidate Will Need / Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in solving commercial and operational business problems using analytics
  • Demonstrated experience analysing, interpreting and presenting complex data to various audiences; ability to translate quantitative findings into action plans
  • Consistent track record of being a respected operational problem solver, with a creative solutions-focused mindset and showing good business acumen and judgement
  • Ability to plan and organise your work across multiple projects and regular processes to execute quickly in a constantly-changing work environment.
  • Strong project management skills, showing the ability to plan and successfully drive a project from beginning to end
  • Cross-functional Teamwork and Stakeholder Management - able to partner effectively with a range of local and regional teams including other UK Operations teams, Finance, Product, Legal, Customer support, EMEA Central Operations, to ensure initiatives launched balance multiple objectives and are implemented effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Advanced SQL and Excel or Google Sheets knowledge and experience required

Preferred Qualifications / Bonus Points:

  • Understanding of statistical and experimentation methods, e.g. A/B testing required, with experience in applying statistical methods preferred
  • Experience with pricing and promotions preferred
  • Python knowledge preferred
