Senior Software Engineer, Mobile DevEx

About the role

As an engineer on the Mobile DevEx team, you’ll work on the frameworks & tools used by Uber’s large mobile development community. We empower developers to quickly iterate on features and ship reliable & modern mobile apps on a massive scale!

Please note that this role is not suitable for candidates wanting to develop mobile applications. This role is focused on creating tooling that enable our engineers to deliver their best work.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain foundational frameworks & libraries that cater to a wide range of developer needs and skill levels.
  • Develop and maintain tooling to unlock mobile development at scale, ensuring accessibility and usability for developers from all backgrounds.

Basic qualifications

  • At least 5+ years of experience working with mobile and backend development, or equivalent experience in relevant fields.
  • Relevant experience in mobile platforms and developer tools, specifically, in building tools that improve the developer experience of mobile engineers
  • Backend experience in Python along with any exposure to DevOps is highly beneficial
  • Excellent fundamentals in software engineering, with a strong understanding of industry best practices.
  • Knowledgeable on modern mobile and backend architecture, tooling, and best practices, with a dedication to staying ahead of with industry advancements.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a globally distributed team, fostering an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued.
  • Passionate about building for developers from all backgrounds, advocating for inclusive design and development practices.

Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber’s cultural identity.
