We’re continuing our series, called “Why I Ride”, which highlights our top riders in the community. We will be showcasing a series of entrepreneurs, community leaders and some recognizable local faces who are sharing their stories of Uber around the island.
We recently had the chance to catch up with Mari, Founder of Craft & Quality – a boutique agency, to find out why she rides! See below for her story:
Why do you ride?
I ride Uber so that my mind is free to work on other things. You would be surprised how many times I’ve had to pull over to write down a big idea when I’m driving, so having to the freedom to write as I please from the back of an Uber has been great!
What makes you feel safe about riding with Uber?
I know Uber partners are screened, friendly and have to meet high standards. Plus I can track my ride via GPS and share my location with my friends and family during any trip via text message. That really makes me feel safe.
What occasions do you use Uber?
I use Uber for work events, meetings and on those rare occasions where I have a night off!
What is your favorite feature in the app?
I love being able to track my driver. Knowing how far away he or she is gives me just enough time to get ready to go!
When did you first download the Uber app?
I downloaded the app for the first time when I was stuck in an alley after hosting an event in Toronto, waiting for a taxi that never came. Uber came to the rescue!
What is your favorite Uber option (product) and why?
My favorite option is UberXL. I coordinate events and a bigger car can come in handy when I have decor to move!
What is your favorite place to Uber to?
My favorite place to Uber to is Bar Leather Apron. I avoid driving Downtown as much as possible because of the traffic. Uber gives me a reliable option which allows me to leave my car at home.

During the Ride
- Never get lost. You can see the route on the map in the app.
- Share your ETA and location. You can easily share your ride details, including the specific route and estimated time of arrival, with friends or family for extra peace of mind.
- No need for cash. Uber allows for a seamless, cashless transaction.
After the Ride
- Feedback and ratings after every trip. After every ride, you and your drivers are asked to rate each other and provide feedback.
- 24/7 Support. If something happens in a car, our customer support team is ready to respond to any issues 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Rapid Response. We have a dedicated Incident Response Team to answer any more urgent issues.
