Whether you have a full-time job, retired, a student or just looking to supplement your income, driving with Uber is for everyone. We’re continuing our series called #WhyIDrive, which highlights great Uber driver-partners in the community. We will be showcasing a handful of entrepreneurs, community leaders and some recognizable local faces who are sharing their stories of Uber around the island.
We recently had the chance to catch up with Susan, originally from New Hampshire and who has lived for 18 months in Honolulu, to find out why she drives! See below for her story:
What is your current home town?
Beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii.
How did you hear about driving with Uber?
Through word of mouth. I’ve been driving with Uber for about 6 months now!
Can you talk a little bit about how the Uber platform offers flexibility for you and your lifestyle?
I live in a beautiful environment and Uber allows me to enjoy my new island home. I meet my financial goals on my schedule and make sure to have time to do the things I love when I want. Surf’s up!
What are you doing with your earnings?
I’m able to pay for all of the great food that Honolulu has to offer. It also allows me to keep saving money and hit financial goals. The added income has removed stress from my relationship with my partner.
Lastly, tell us why you drive.
It’s fun. It’s flexible. And it’s profitable!
Cars are one of the most expensive assets a typical American family buys and maintains — yet they sit unused 96 percent of the time. Driving with Uber means people can get more value out of this expensive asset by turning their car into an income generator.
Uber offers a supplemental income during professional or personal transitions. People are driving on the Uber platform to get the pay raise they have not received in their other jobs, or to help themselves when they get in a tight spot.
The Uber platform offers people a flexible work opportunity that fits around their lives — and not the other way around. People choose to partner with Uber because it offers them the kind of work they want — work that offers complete autonomy and flexibility.
- You’re the Boss: Uber partners work whenever they want, wherever they want.
- Entrepreneurship Awaits: From day one, drivers set their own hours, have access to customers, and create their own steady and growing stream of income.
